Jeongguk's P.O.V.
The black abyss haunts me, its invisible untouchable walls breathing down my neck. I hold my stomach together, looking down at my feet as I mindlessly walk through the abyss.
No one has showed up yet, and I'm hoping that no one does. It's only on rare occasions possibly like this when I wake up in the World of Darkness and no one shows up, leaving me entirely by myself. That's may also happen in the World of Light, but instead of giving me relief, I end up with feeling lonely and lost.
Of course, I just had to jinx it all.
Slowly, a wave of fog crawls against the ground. I stop walking and I immediately become tense. The fog joins together, but splits into three forms. Eventually, these forms solidify themselves. A flowing dress forms on top of each of their bodies, their flesh transparent and their face missing. Their hair remains as fog, flowing against air but still attached to their scalp. To finish their transformation, a pair of wings attach themselves to each of their backs. A broken halo circles around their heads, like the many rings of Saturn.
The three angles, or more specially, the three fallen angels stand before me as I timidly stare at them.
"Hello Jeongguk, how have you been?" the fallen angel named Peisinoe asks with her gentle voice.
"Have you been treating yourself will?" another named Ligeia asks with a gentle flare at the end of her sentence.
"Missed me much?" Aglaope, the last one, asks with a beautiful haunting voice belonging to a siren.
I shrug a bit before continuing to walk, making my way through their transparent bodies. I try my best to ignore them. However, they begin to follow me, their angelic bodies gliding beside me.
"That was quite rude of you," Ligeia says as her sisters join her to haunt me.
"Yes, very rude to just walk right past us without saying a single word," Aglaope spits.
I have the urge to flip them off, but of course they wouldn't understand what flipping them off meant. I continue to walk, ignoring them with all my will. That seems to upset them even more, but I couldn't care less.
Peisinoe sighs and suddenly grabs a hold of my shoulder. Even if their existence came from a whisper of a fog, their physical touch is more solid than ever. Her nails dig into my shoulder, forcing me to wince. She turns me around and then I see the three of them.
Their faces slowly begins to take shape, eyes forming and lips moving. I quickly take my eyes off them, but Aglaope grabs a hold of my chin and forces me to look up at them.
Peisinoe takes the face of my mother, a woman who's raised me since the beginning. Ligeia masks the face of Kim EonJin, Taehyung's dear younger sister who introduced me to the love of my life. And Aglaope... she steals the face of Lee Jieun, a friend who's been there for me through everything.
They take the faces of these three different people who share three different lives, yet all of these people have one similarity... My connection with all of them has been cut, lost, and shattered.
"Look at us, Jeongguk. We're in a better place. We're free, our flesh is nonexistent which allows us to roam the air without gravity," EonJin says.
"Jeongguk, your brother is happy in where he lays. He has told me about all the wonderful things that happen after you allow yourself to let go. He wants us to join him so we can all have an actual family dinner, something we haven't had in years," my mother says.
"My struggles have disappeared. I can finally smile and be happy now. I no longer have to think about what I have to wear or what I have to say. I can just say whatever I want, and I'll be accepted by everyone in where I exist now," Jieun smiles.
