Cassidy had been walked to lunch once again by Ashton. This time they were lucky enough to get a table more towards the center of the room; surrounded by soccer players and their pretty girlfriends. Cassidy sat in between Ashton and Calum again, focusing only on the sandwich in front of her.
Calum was busy chatting away to the curly haired brunette on the other side of him to pay any attention to Cassidy and Ashton simply talked to everyone, all the time.
Cassidy wasn't used to sitting with large groups of people. She was sitting at two tables pushed together with more chairs that could possibly fit comfortably jammed in so more people could sit together. Ashton and Calum had tried to be nice and give Cassidy some space, but as lunch had progressed they had been slowly pushed closer to her. Ashton's forearm rubbed against hers when either of them moved, and both Calum and Ashton's legs leaned against hers.
When the girl was done with her food, she still had thirteen minutes of the period left. Everyone was so close. She could hear Ashton's teeth mashing up the slice of pizza he had grabbed from the lunch line, each bite sending cringes to rocket throughout her body. Calum had his usual bottle of Dr. Pepper, sending streams of it sliding down his throat every once in awhile. Cassidy could hear those muscles contracting to force the liquid to her stomach, it made her want to scream.
After about two minutes, Cassidy turned to speak to Ashton. She needed to distract herself. He had been talking Maxwell Macintosh about some video game she knew nothing about, but both pairs of eyes snapped to her as she cleared her throat before she spoke.
Even though it hadn't been her intent to gain the attention of both the boys, Maxwell's eyes still rested gently on her as she spoke to Ashton. Cassidy had to speak up to be heard over the bustle of the cafeteria. "Ashton, when do you want to meet up about our project?"
"I'm pretty busy this week. Like I'm going to the soccer game tonight..." He trailed off, chewing his bottom lip, but after a moment of thought his eyes lit up. "Cassidy you should come with me!" He seemed a but embarrassed by his outburst after, his eyes nervously shifting away from her.
Maxwell shaking his head at his curly haired friend's sudden excitement, but he still smiled gently at Cassidy. "You should also come to the party afterwards."
"P-party?" Cassidy choked out the word. She knew about soccer games and their after parties; her step brother was on the team and was always talking about them.
"I agree with bandana boy and Mr. Jock. Our games are pretty fun." An all too familiar voice spoke as a set of all too familiar hands came down on the back of Cassidy's chair.
Max grinned, "Hey Mikey. Aren't you supposed to be in Algebra?"
Cassidy froze. She couldn't bring herself to turn or look up at the boy towering over her chair. He leaned against the back of it, his rough hands brushing against her brother's flannel.
Michael spoke again, lifting one of his hands from the back of her chair and playing almost absent mindedly with a few strands of her hair. "Got thrown out again. Mrs. Franklin hates me because I never do the homework, but always pass her stupid tests."
Calum turned, noticing Michael and his eyes narrowing instantly. He didn't say a word but instead turned back to the girl he'd been talking to for the rest of the period.
Cassidy's attention was brought back to the planning when Ashton nudged her arm. "What do you say, Cassidy? Wanna keep me company in the stands while the boys play on the field?"
"And then tag along when we head to Michael's for a sick party? Maxwell added, his lazy grin toying with the corner's of his lips.
The girl didn't speak; she couldn't speak. Cassidy had been to one party so far into her high school career. And that had been at her own house while her parents were out of town because Luke wanted to win over one of the more popular girls.
But she could feel all three of the boys just looking at her, waiting for her answer. She knew they wanted a yes, and Cassidy felt obligated to fulfill that want. "Sure. Sounds good." She forced a probably too sweet smile onto her face.
Michael gave her shoulders a squeeze before leaning down to say, "Great." next to her ear and then turning to walk out of the cafeteria.
"What's his deal?" Calum said gruffly after Michael was comfortably out of ear shot. The dark haired boy had turned away from his brunette and two the two blondes one of the twins.
Maxwell and Cassidy shrugged almost together and Ashton just laughed. "There's always something going on with Michael Clifford. It's better if we just don't ask questions.

Short chapter I'm sorryyyyyy
And I'm also sorry I make you guys wait a thousand years for every update, I'm a horrible person.
Should I aim for updates every Monday? Misophonia Mondays?
I'm excited for the party. It's gonna be filled with important stuff.
Basically everyone but Ashton is on the soccer team, so both the twins and all of the band will be at the Clifford house for the after party.
Do people have any ships so far? I know the story is supposed to be about Cassidy and Michael but no ones stopping you from like another pairing better. [as long as it's not Cassidy and Luke. He's her step brother and that would just be gross]
Love you all Xx
