"You . . . you led this man up there to kill Clint?" Loneshark took another deep breath, but said nothing. "You bastard!" Jasmine screamed and slapped Loneshark's face. In the control room King and Brad flinched from the force of the blow. Jasmine stared at Mick for another moment, shaking her head. She turned and ran out of the lobby, crying.

Tyro turned to the detective and tried to comfort him, "She'll get over it, Mick."

Loneshark frowned and shook his head. He told Tyro, "You had no choice but to return Clint's fire. Thank you for saving my life, Agent Newbee." Tyro nodded solemnly and shook his grateful guide's hand. Detective Mick Loneshark turned and marched out of the lobby. Mick took the elevatorto Shirley's office and rented another car. He would drive to the Denver airport and catch a commercial flight to Chicago. Loneshark drove to the cabin. Mick decided to build one last fire before packing. Loneshark bent to rake up the last shavings of kindling. Mick suddenly felt a small, incongruous item mixed among the sharp slivers of wood. The object was smooth and round. The detective smiled as he lifted the last piece of the puzzle out of the box.
