"Bridal suite? I didn't know – "
"Really?" Loneshark reached over and plucked the key-card from Miss Jade's bedside table, held it in front of her, and scathingly stated, "The linked hearts on this card could be a hint. That boiling luv-tub in there might be another indication."
Jasmine's embarrassment compelled her to offer some excuse. "Dweeb only told me he had reserved the adjoining suite."
"Oh, did he? Well, I'm sure that adjoining you was exactly what he had in mind all along, and why he concocted this whole charade of a program."
"I can't believe – "
The doorbell chimed Here Comes the Bride. Jasmine immediately recognized the tune. "Oh no," she whispered.
"There's clue number three, Sweetheart," Mick hissed. He leapt across the room and opened the door.
Geek, Piercely, and Precious were standing in the hall. The adults looked worried.
"Hi, Jasmine!" Precious blurted brightly. When the little girl saw the look on Jasmine's face, she hesitantly asked, "What's wrong?"
"You!" Loneshark burst forcefully, his lasers aiming at Geek, "Come in here!" Softening his tone, Mick asked Piercely, "Will you take Jasmine to your room and give her some coffee? See if you can get her sober."
"How dare you? I'm not drunk!" Jasmine raged at the detective.
Mick lifted his blonde brows at Piercely, and she nodded knowingly. "Please come with me, Jasmine," Miss Tatts ordered politely but firmly. Piercely's years of handling Luscious had taught her a how to deal with the situation.
"Is Jasmine okay, Mommie?"
"She'll be fine, Baby," Piercely answered in a soothing voice. As Piercely and Precious led her out of the room, Jasmine burst into tears.
Loneshark closed the door and turned to Geek in full interrogation mode. "Were you a part of this?"
"Of . . . what?"
"Don't play dumb with me, Boy!"
"No!" Nerdy exclaimed. He then added in a more contrite manner, "I mean, I knew Dweeb wanted her, but I didn't know what he was planning – "
"How about attempted rape!"
Geek's eyes bulged. Before Nerdy could speak, Dweeb ran out of the bathroom. "You're crazy!" Dorky howled. "I'll fire you!"
