"...You will have to read the book, obviously, and a screen of my making, would show you selected pieces of visual memory."

and now...

"Athena, are you up to the task?" he inquired formally, the Greek flowing easily out of his mouth.

"είμαι " she replied, but in her mind she could not help but mistrust this god who had imposed himself upon her and her family, and now had put her in danger by wresting this vow from her.

She made no objections as she was yet to decipher her own fears. One cannot simply object without having proof or cause of objection. The council would've laughed at her,  but something in her told her not to trust this 'perfect' god.

A wave of indigo-violet warmth sealed the vow of trust, as it spread around the room, making more than one shiver involuntarily. Any god who is any god knows the power a 'formal vow' holds and also what the cost of breaking such a vow is.

A curse straight from the hellish river of Styx levies itself onto the taker of the oath, slowly leeching away at the god's divine power, weakening the connection of the divine with divinity. Threatening them with a lifetime of a severed conscience floating away in the ether of Chaos, the very soup out of which the world and reality is made.

The effects of this curse are weaker on the Olympians themselves, but if one was fatally injured in, say, a war of some kind, this kind of curse could mean the victory of the oppositions. A very daunting thought for the members of the ruling  house of gods, to be able to lose one of the foremost gods of Warcraft and strategy. Therefore, a law had been made, commanding that no mortal or god could ask an Olympian to take a formal oath. Yet here they are.

"Well, then I would be leaving now, it is nice to have a family once more" he said, and with a smile turned into a wolf cub once again.

The black portal had returned in the middle of the throne room, and just before the cub stepped through he seem to remember something, and he turned in Athena's direction and said -

"Keep the family heirloom safe, and I suppose I should have told you before, when in the presence of other females, it tends to spark jealousy. Therefore, I warn you of fights with the other goddesses. Another thing, if this book is held by anyone other than you without your permission, it will melt all over the culprits hand and effectively bind him, a clever idea of mine.

"So, nephew, don't even think about It." he said with a grin, turning his attention to Hermes, god of thieves and lies.

"Farewell" he told his family.

The wolf cub let out an ear–piercing howl and bounded through the portal, vanishing before the Olympian's eyes.

Nobody's POV:

"Well, that was certainly informative," said Poseidon .

"I'm surprised you even know the word," came the half-hearted reply from Athena.

"I'm not completely stupid you know, I have an average person's vocabulary. Just because I do not have my nose up a book every time, doesn't give you a reason to verbally abuse me. I swear one day this habit of yours is going to come and bite you in the ass." Poseidon said as he took offense to this statement, his previously jubilant voice now full of hurt and venom, leaving Athena speechless for the perhaps third time in the history of Olympus.

Seeing the look of hurt on Athena's face made him backtrack with uncertainty. They had always resorted to arguments, even in the hardest of times, and yet it had always been friendly banter. These arguments had always helped them vent their feelings and emotions, it had become a sort of secret language that no one but they understood. Some arguments were so repetitive that they already knew what the other was going to say, like actors reading out a script and sometimes improvising to keep the plot's intensity and jesting vibe.

But at the end of the day, they would just share a smile and call it equal, laughing internally at each other. But after all this time, all this berating, Poseidon was finally getting tired of it. Tired of Athena reminding him of his flaws, and his shortcomings, especially when she was the one person he was devoted to showing his smarter and better side.

"I- I'm sorry," he said as he looked at Athena and gave her half a hurt smile before vanishing in sea-green mist.  After all this time, things were still complicated between them.

A/n: How do you like it? ...I just wanted you guys to know that even though this is a strictly Pertia story, I would be overshadowing Pothena too. Well, who doesn't love a little bit of Pothena, frankly I love and root for Pothena. It is my favorite ship along with Pertemis. Tell me what is your favorite ship and maybe I will put a scene of it in my story.

Here are some options, tell me who I should make a ship-scene on:

Pertemis (but it would be in another dimension)

Pertia (obviously)

Pothena

Perthna (this is totally new)

Hertemis

Or Any Other

Choose your ship.

Peace out !
