Time: Present

Artemis's POV

As the realization struck her, she reeled back to compensate for the torrent of memories that passed through. Indeed, she had been very pleased with herself and her hunters, not only had they managed to locate and eliminate a very audacious colony of myrmekes that had been ravaging the sacred Woods of Demeter, but they had also eradicated a pack of werewolves on their way back.

She remembered how her aloof aunt had changed faces when she came pleading her help. Of course, her aunt could have taken care of the pesky ants herself, but not without destroying the garden her precious daughter, Persephone, had grown especially as a Mother's day present. For a job that required strategy and stealth , she had made the right choice to ask for the moon goddess's help. But this help came for no small price, not only had Artemis managed to get her hunters limited access to the sacred woods , but also extracted the promise of protection from the goddess. The Woods of Demeter now was a safe haven for the huntresses.

The sounds and smells of the Day passed through her godly senses as she finally arrived at that short memory that had her confused for days after.

She remembered her pet wolf, its wet muzzle pressed to the palm of her hand in greeting as she made her way to her private quarters, for even goddesses needed their rest. With the Moonrise in a few hours she was exhausted and had decided against riding the Moon chariot tonight. She split herself , into her Roman and Greek personas. The roman part of her stood at attention, back rigid and feet together, always ready to do her duty. While her Greek counterpart slumped forward, making her way to the soft alluring bundle of wolf furs, the day's activity catching up with her energy reserves.

She remembered nothing after, until her hunter's senses, that continued their task even while she was asleep, told her of the presence of someone else in hunter's camp. The essence of this person did not overtly surprise her, for it was of a fellow god, similar to that of her father and his siblings. It's probably Aunt Hestia, she had assumed and had, quite unusually, fallen to sleep again.

It was her nose that had woken her up . She remembered how overpowering the scent of lavender was, as it invaded her sensitive nose. She had started to rise when suddenly an uncharacteristic dizziness pervaded her, she was suddenly very aware of the fact that while awake she was not able to command her own body. She vividly recalled the panicky feeling that filled her chest, when she could not open her eyes, nor move her hands or legs. Something brushed her fingers and she gave an internal start, realizing suddenly the presence of another body in her room.

She felt a hand across her eyes and a faintly mumbled apology echoed in her head as she slowly lost consciousness.

..........................................................

Had someone been watching, they would have noticed the panicked look on Artemis's face as she seemed to crash back to earth. Her face paling with the realization of that what was going to be revealed. She would become a laughing stock, her reputation as an expert assassin would be shattered.

Not only that but fact that her hunters had been outmaneuvered while at their own camp, and her own self had been overpowered by a male would be revealed.

The next thing that happened surely can't be blamed on Artemis, she just did what any god that wanted to retain his credibility, would've done.

But not all saw that as reason.
