Chapter 7: Mishaps

I started getting into the bad habit of staying up all night and then going on hour long walks around Alexandria. On Friday Morning I got a bad feeling and felt like something was wrong and I was beginning to count the days since my last period and I was a week late... shit. Erick hit me up a few minutes after I started freaking out and I told him that I'm late and he started to tell me that he's been in that position before with his ex and that I shouldn't worry or over think.

It was almost noon and I decided to call the Teen Wellness center to make an appointment for a pregnancy test, "Teen Wellness Center how may I help you?"

"I would like to make an appointment for a pregnancy test," that line was so usual for me to say since I was always making appointments like that when Oscar and I were together, but it was weird because this time it was with someone else and never had I thought that was going to happen.

There was a long pause, "When was the last time you had sex?"

I dont even know why it took me a while to think about, "Three days ago."

"You know that if you come in today you can take the plan B pill, right?" she was asking me as if I were stupid."Oh... okay," I had this weird point of view where I thought that taking the pill was bad, I don't really have a reason though.

She sighed, "But you have to come in today, because it works up to three days."

"Can I still schedule that pregnancy test though?" I asked.

Papers were being flipped, "August the 27th?"

It was the same day as my therapy appointment, "Okay, thank you."

I decided to tell my grandma that I had a therapy appointment and needed money to take the bus and to my luck no questions were asked. Erick asked me what I was gonna do and I told him I was on my way to take the plan B pill and get back on birth control. I was such a paranoid freak that I was already going to worst case scenerios.

My friend Siem called me while I was waiting for the bus and I didn't want to really talk so I just summed up what I was doing and told him to text me. It took about 20 minutes to get there and Erick was at work texting me every second asking if I was there yet... I guess I freaked him out.

When I got there I had only planned to take the plan B and ended up coming out getting a physical, pregnancy test and my birth control pills. The test came out negative but the nurse told me to go back again next week because it takes about a week or two to show the legit results. I couldn't start my pills until the next morning because I had just taken the plan B and it would have been a bad combination. Immediately I let Erick know we were in the clear and he was so relieved.

The next day I agreed to meet up with Oscar and Siem at the library and it was pretty awkward because that was the first time since our break up that me and Oscar have seen each other. When I got home my mom was mad because I had left on my own and that I got home late. An hour later Star hit me up saying she wanted to talk and my mom let me go since she wanted me to go buy ice for her.

Star and I decided to go to Taco Bell since it was right next to BJ's, which is where I was gonna buy the ice. We sit around the corner where we can't be seen because I had told Chiko I was going there and he was working but I didn't want him to see me in my pajamas. As we're walking out he sees me and says, "Yo."

I close my eyes and turn around, "Hey, I gotta go."

"I know you ain't walking away," he says as he starts walking up behind me.

Star looks up and she's surprised he came all the way out just to give me a hug.

"Well for a second I thought he was going to start something," she says as we get in her car.

I laugh, "I know, me too."

She then looks at me and says, "That's the guy you're fucking... and he made my food."

I had no words for that so I stayed quiet until we got to BJ's where we got into talking about Chalo. She wanted to go see him for her phone that he wouldn't give back since they broke up. When she dropped me off at home she said she was going to go check if Chalo was at his place and that if he was she was going to get her phone and then straight back home.

I get home around 8 or so and then my mom takes my phone because she was in one of her moods. At 11 we realize I'm getting a call over and over again from some random number. I decided to pick up because it seemed urgent, "Hello?"

"Andrea?" it was Star's mom.

I was kind of panicked because I knew it had to be about Star, "Yes?"

"Is Star still with you?" she asked in such a scared way, that I had never heard before.

I look up at the clock in out kitchen and see that's it's almost midnight, "No... she was with me until 8:30 and then she left to go see Chalo to get her phone."

She sighs.

"Yeah, she hasn't called or anything?" I was wondering how the hell could she do something so stupid to her family, again.

"No, that's why I thought she was still with you or something," she sounds so unsettled it's just a struggle to listen to her talk.

"I'll try calling her for you and I'll text Cindy," that was all I could really do.

The other line goes silent.

I tried calling Star but her phone was off and when she finally turned it back on she called me to say that her mom had sent a cop over to Chalo's place to get her. She then proceeded to tell me they had sex and I was so mad, but I couldn't do anything because I'm doing wrong too. I let it go and she tells me shes gonna sleep because she had a weird and interesting day. I was still mad that she put me in the position of being the last person to see her before she had gone missing, my whole family was mad.
