Grunts and snarls echoed behind her as she ran past the trees. The world blurred as she pushed herself to run faster. Her bare feet kicked through the damp forest soil and fallen leaves.
Don't give up now Eva. Not now!
She chided herself. She had been on the run for the past few days. Her leg was tired and in need of rest. Her dress was scraped and dirt matted at the hem. She tried to clean it up when she came to a stream in between her runs but gave up when it wasn't working. She had gotten few rests here and there, on the treetops and abandoned caves provided little to rest, but the fear of being in the enemy's territory overpowered her mind to be at rest. Her body screamed against her mind's wish, still, she pushed herself.
She could feel them moving closer to her despite her efforts. She didn't know which way she was going, her sense of direction lost. The only thing in her mind is to run. And she did just that.
Adrenaline coursed through her veins as she felt herself picking speed. A glint of hope shining somewhere. She was sucked of air when a force suddenly hit her, making her leave sprawled out on the forest floor battling for oxygen.
The damp coolness of the forest floor contrasted to her burning body, she mentally cursed her luck. Taking a huge gulp of air, Eva tried to push herself to stand. Lying sprawled out on the forest floor surrounded by enemies won't be doing her good.
The thud of paw came closer to where she was struggling to push herself up. Eva looked up to find a snarling face coming closer, it's eyes completely lost in the madness. There was only one thing the rouge could see, it's prey.
Rogues are werewolves that don't belong to the pack, most of them are kicked out due to their own wrongdoing or left with their own selfish reason. A werewolf craves to be with their pack, it's in their nature to be with their family or friends. This keeps their beast sane. To be cut off from their pack is the greatest cruelty to be ever done. So only who had committed the highest of the crime is kicked out from the pack. There were only a few handfuls of cases to be ever heard for someone to remove themselves from the pack. Every story ended the same though, hunted down either by the pack or by other rogues.
Slowly Eva pushed herself up, trying to find leverage in the situation. More sound came from behind her. She was completely surrounded. Well, it is not in her nature to go down without a fight. If she is going down, these bastards are coming with her.
A quick survey told her she is surrounded by four of them, one in front, two from behind and one on her left. A fallen tree blocked her right, the tree wasn't completely touching the ground. If she is quick enough, even if she somehow can outrun, but she doubted she wouldn't get much head start. The rogues can easily overpower her.
All the training and drill came to her, her mind went on autopilot accessing the chance of survival. She felt almost relaxed, her senses on high. Her body is beaten and going on days without food has placed her in a disadvantage on shifting. A werewolf greatest assets came from their beast within them. Everyone knew that, but if she could channel her beast without turning, but enough to give her boost, now that could do aid her tremendously.
A smirk pulled up on her face. This only made the enemy madder.
Good. She thought. So it begins.
