Chapter Eight-A birthday and a break in

It was Nadia, Amity, and Luana's first birthday and Loreli was bustling with activity decoratig and nbaking cooking and buying presants. I took the girls out to play at a park for a few hours so Loreli could work in peace.

A few hours later she calls me and tells me that everything is ready and she'll call me again once the guests arrive. She calls me an hour later and tells me to head home.

I load up the girls and drive one. Once back i open the door and everybody jumps out and yells "Surprise!!!" The girls jump up and down clapping and giggling.

They play games with their friends and eat dinner and some junk food before opening presants, Then Loreli brings out the cake with three candles in the shape of ones lit on top. Everybody starts singing happy birthday. The girls blow out their candles and eat cake.

All the girls at the party stayed over for a sleep over. We put them all to bed around ten and headed to bed ourselves.

It was aroud one in the morning when i heard a crashing sound down stairs. I checked on the girls to see that Amity wasnt in bed. So I walked down stairs to see if she was there. I went down but who I saw in the living room was a grown man rummaging through our stuff. "Hey!!" I shouted pulling  gun out from under the table next to me. He turns with Amity in his arms holding a hand over her mouth. "Let her go....Come on please!" I begged holding my hands up.

Loreli comes down stairs and lets out a scream. "Dont hurt her! PLease!!" She cries tears running down her cheeks. "Come on man...Take whatever you want but leave the girl with us." He pushed Amity towards us. Rose grabbed her and held her the man slung a bag over his shoulder and shot a bullet at me. I doged it but it hit my leg. "AH!!!" I shouted hitting the ground gripping my leg. "Daddy!!!" Amity runs to me and hugs my neck. "Its..ok Sugar...I'll be fine." I said in pain.

Rose rushes to the phone and calls 911. They come and rush me to the hospital.

The doctor comes in an hour later. "You can see him now." He said turning and walking towards his room.

I ran in with the girls. He is laying in a bed. He looks at us and smiles. The girls run to him and all climb on the bed being carful of his leg. He hugs them each and kisses their cheeks. He kisses me and sighs. "Its ok guys...Daddys ok." He says gently stroking their hair.

The next day he was signed out of the hospital and taken home. He had to use a cane and wrap his leg a few times a day but other then that he was fine. I was more then thankful that my husband and babies were safe and alive. But our house was still wrecked and a lot of meaningful and expensive things were gone. But all of that could be replaced...The lives of my family couldnt.
