'So, Shane.' beamed Reid. 'I will ask things to which you have to reply. That must be clear. Forget for a moment or two that I am your uncle. Just another cop on his work. Okay?'
Shane nodded.
'I will make this straight and fast.' were you aware that Noel wasn't going on a date.
'I now am. Dianne told me. Not that I knew back then.'
'Hm. Was there any guy you saw Noel talk to? Or anyone she told you about?'
'She used to talk alot about Ethan Seacrest. But that was because she crushed on him like every other girl in the school. I don't think there's more to it. Besides Ethan, she barely talked about a guy. And that was the reason the date was a shock to me. Though I didn't show it.'
Reid nodded.
'Ethan is it?'
Shane shrugged.
'We shall see into that.' he jotted a few points down into his writing pad and stared at his words for long minutes.
'Do you know that you're a suspect, Shane?'
Shane nodded.
'And do you know why?'
'Because I was the last one Noel was seen with.'
'Yes, but there's more. Because we found a page in her room while investigation. It was probably written by Noel. But we have sent it to the handwriting department. I will show that to you once it comes. If that's Noel who wrote that piece of paper. You might be in trouble Shane.'
Shane frowned.
'What damn was written?'
'I'll show you.' Reid repeated.
'You found the location of the number?'
'Yes, the call that you received was made from another country. Laos.'
'What?'
'Yes. Its as unbelievable to me as it is to you.'
'Laos is far. And why Laos?'
'Well, that is something we can't tell. As we don't know ourselves. We are looking into it Shane. Don't worry.'
Shane breathed heavy air.
Don't worry.
Short words. And yet so difficult to keep right now.
