Just as Shane tried to process it all, a hand tapped his shoulder.
He turned to see a student standing there.
Levi.
Levi and Shane shared the same class for biology.
And still not the guy he would expect to even cross paths with.
Levi was someone who maintained a low profile. Someone who lived like a shadow. Someone who wouldn't make his presence felt unless you're really interested.
Shane took a moment to recognise him.
'Yes?' he asked, with no in betweens, no room for formal greetings.
'You're next.' Levi said and pointed his thumb towards the stuffy faculty room besides the cafeteria.
'For?'
'Inspector Reid. He wants to see you next for the interrogation.' Levi replied, matter of factly.
'Have you been there?' Shane asked.
It was hard to imagine what would Reid inquire from Levi. He never really talked to Noel.
Levi nodded. That was a yes.
A surprising yes.
Enquiring Levi? Reid must have found something bulky enough to interrogate him.
Shane looked up at him.
On the top of it, Reid asked Levi to be there before Shane. Shane, whom everyone was thinking of, as a suspect. That was something. Was Levi a suspect too? Was their any other reason Reid interrogated him?

Shane kept his thoughts to himself and strolled his way to the faculty room.
It was overtly specified today. The room itself shouted seriousness. All the chairs on which the teachers gossiped were moved to a corner forming a stack. And so we're the tables. Leaving space for a very small table and two chairs. One was occupied by a very engaged Reid and the other empty.
'Uncle Reid?'
'Shane! Come on in.' Chirped the inspector.
Shane went and sat on the chair opposite to Reid.
'Morning, Reid uncle.'
'Morning kid...I um...I am sorry kid. Shane I know she was your best friend and this must be difficult for you. But yu have to be strong and we are working on this. Be stri g for yourself and for her parents. Who will look for them? It's you, of course. Be brave. Be strong.'
Shane nodded. He was hearing same stuff from everyone lately. And the so called advices weren't making anything better.
'You questioned Levi.' Shane said. There was a hint of questioning in his statement.
Reid did not reply.
Shane stared straight into his unanswering eyes.
'That's my field of worry who is there to question and who is not.'
'I never saw him talking to Noel. Why would you bring him here to interrogate if he's clean of this thing?'
Reid kept his lips sealed but with a smile.
'I know my job Shane.' he said at last.
