Eleven.
Eleven people. I came here when I was eleven. Eleven times my bloody hands had made a person cease to breath. Eleven families that had to go through mourning because of one seemingly innocent girl's actions. I sat down on my bed, completely disgusted with myself. Eleven killed and who knows how many more sentenced to death before I could finally depart. The worst part, though, was that I couldn't even kill myself to prevent any of those deaths from happening. No, for if I killed myself, Trevor would also die. Trevor, who I could only see through a one-way glass. Trev, who was now an amazing and loved thirteen year old at the private middle school he attended, and was secretely watched by AssassiNation workers. But of course, he was completely oblivious to this because of the work of a certain inky haired girl. He was also in the dark about her existence, or the fact that she was his brother. But it's all for the better, I told myself.
Sure, the voice in my head scoffed, whatever helps you sleep at night.
Hey, it's better than him being an assassin, I scolded the voice.
After that, the voice was silent. Suddenly, the door to my room banged open.
"Pizza delivery!" the familiar voice shouted while grabbing my ankles and dragging me to the foot of my bed. Not so fast, I thought smugly.
"Ahh! The crazy monster's got me! Someone help the damsel in distress!" I shrieked playfully. Then I flipped my feet upwards sharply, making my feet and a now crumpled up Freddie land on my pillow.
I smirked as I heard Freddie's muffled reply from between the pillows, "Well, at least you're being trained well."
"And at least you aren't being trained well and need to pay more attention in class." I replied, exasperated. No, these weren't just any regular classes. Although that would be pretty epic if they were ... no, I learned these sleek moves in my assassin 101 classes, as I called them. Even though I technically completed the training after my first year here, I still had to go to various lessons to keep me in good shape and on my toes.
"Are you thinking dirty thoughts about us, Sam? Because I'm right here on your bed, and I'm perfectly wil-"
"No," I quickly interrupted him, "I was actually thinking about how bad you are at fighting. I mean, shouldn't you be better than me, considering you are a guy, and have had training, like, your whole life..." I trailed off with my signature smirk. Freddie glared at me and threw a pillow smack-dab in the center of my face, wiping the sneer off it within milliseconds.
"Oh, its on!" I said, slamming him upside the head with another one of the feathery weapons. "First you lie to me, promising me pizza when you clearly aren't carrying any, then you smack me with a pillow..." I said, a whack punctuating each word.
Unfortunately, he blocked most of them, with a grin on his cocky face the whole time, no less. Unluckily for him, that just enraged me more, and I moved to shove him sideways off the bed and onto the hard wood floor of my room. Tragically enough, that plan completely backfired when he grabbed me and put me under him, forcing me to be the cushion to his fall. I glowered at him, my tailbone crying out for attention, but I ignored it, choosing to get my revenge on him before giving in to my pain. I grunted, flipping him over so that he was the one on the bottom, and straddled him. A moment too late, I realized how awkward the position was.
Of course, not being physically able to pass up the opportunity, Freddie said, "Well, if you wanted me that badly, you could have just told me so." I glared at him.
"In your dreams." I retorted.
"Like you don't even know." I shuddered, unable or unwilling to come up with a comeback, afraid of what innuendo he would say in response.
So instead, I glared at him, and rolled off his washboard abbs, asking, "What do you want?"
"Well, a lot of things, where do you want me to start?" Came his swift reply. I groaned. Couldn't this boy ever be serious?
I stood up, tying my hair into a messy bun, and was walking out the door before I heard Freddie say, "Oh yeah, my dad has another mission for you."
