Chapter 12

I can't even begin to process what Jake is saying to me, I mean come on how can I have been asleep that long?

"You're kidding, right?" I ask when I finally find my voice again, Unable to hide the slight catch in my throat.

The look on Jakes face tells me all I need to know, the man looks destroyed his beautiful green eyes have dark purple rings around them, I can see his been crying and that hurts more than anything else,

"Oh Eve I wish I was I really do but it's true, I do however promise that I will find out who did this to you and make them pay" He states his hands tightening in to fists at his side, the hard look on his face proof that he is struggling to control himself and probably his wolf to.

Knowing that I need to calm him down quickly before he ended up shifting, his eyes were closed now, his breathing quick and shallow as he fought for control.

I did the only thing I could think of, I swung my shaky legs over the edge of the bed and placed my feet on the cold tiled floor. One upright and steady I made the few steps towards where Jake stood eyes still closed. I slowly reached up and touched the tips of my fingers to his cheek, his body stiffened suddenly then started to relax, and I heard his inhale deeply then let out a low growl that made me shiver from head to toe.

I couldn't stop what happened next my wolf appeared from nowhere purring like a kitten getting a belly rub and literally threw me at Jake. My hands wound around his neck as I threaded my fingers through his soft hair, his eyes sprung open his eyes dark with so many emotions.

I was about to open my mouth and say something about him needing to calm down but I never got the chance, his mouth came down on mine with such force I was startled for a second. This kiss was different to the others we had shared I could feel the desperation and fear he had felt.

He pulled back suddenly looking on the verge of tears, my heart ached from seeing him so sad.

"I thought I had lost you" He whispered.

"I'm right here Jake I'm right here with you" I tried to reassure him.

"Please Eve never leave me, I don't think I could take it" he whispers,

My heart constricts at the way he sounds in this moment and all I want to do is provide him with the comfort he needs, but I need answers to and after all today something pretty fucking strange is supposed to happen to me. As I think this my wolf feels the need to remind me ever so subtly that tonight should also be the night me and Jake mate, like fully....wow.

I must have been caught up in my little internal struggle for information because when I finally look up Jake has this amused look on his face that makes half of me want to punch him and the other lick his face! Damn wolf.

"Oh kitten you know I will wait for you forever but if you keep thinking about it I'm not going to be able to explain anything I know, because right now you're making a certain part of me rock hard thinking about mating with you and my wolf is tearing at me to get out" He laughs and is so good to hear that sound coming from is lips.

"So come on Mr Alpha what happened to me?" I finally ask, not sure if I want to hear the answers,

"Well, all we know at the moment is that somehow you came into contact with a very strong form of wolfs bane, The doctor says he is amazed anyone was able to survive such a strong dose but I promise you baby I will find out who did this and they will pay" He seethes and I can feel his anger beginning to surface again, I decide it's time to change the subject I mean he already told me what he knows and to be honest I just want to get out of this room and into a shower.....now.
