The endless hallway

I opened the door to the abandoned building, it creaked open slowly, indicating that this building may not have been in use for a while. I looked into the house which was incased in darkness, the only light illumitaing it was the outside and my torch. I walked in, looking around at the many paintings and presumably ancient artifacts that may have been lying around. The old wooden floorboards creaking with every step I took, they really need to renovate this place. Before I knew it, the door that I entered from slammed shut, letting out a big bang that echoed in this vacant building. I was stuck in this dark and creaky place, how great. I walked, every step making noise as I reached a long and eery hallway. It was an empty hallway that you couldn't see the end of, even with the torch that was accompanying me. I slowly creeped down the hall, trying to make as little noise as I could, but, obviously failing due to the ancient nature of this home. There were no doors or cupboards or any paintings that could've decorated the hallway, I kept walking down in hope to make more progress, the creaks of my steps progressively getting louder and louder. I started to run and then sprint, the floorboards now screeching with noise, but I ignored and carried on. But it seemed as if this long and barren hallway had no end, I looked back from where I came from and realised that I had essentially just been running on the spot, but it felt as if I was going somewhere. I looked back down the endlessely long hallway to see that I still couldn't see beyond the grave darkness. I let out a huff of failure and turned back.
