Inning of Love (Complete and being edited)

Scarlett.

Nina and I are in the kitchen making popcorn and hot chocolate for everyone while the guys fight over a movie. We were playing video games, well the guys were before Dean walked in. Dex got up and hugged him when he walked in and announced to everyone that Dean was finally free. I didn't know exactly what he meant till Dean said he broke up with Phoebe. When he told us what happened, I didn't know how to handle the fact that Ryker just moved on to her the next day after what he did to me, but at the same time, I felt so bad for Dean. Phoebe has no idea how badly she messed up.

"So...." Nina sneers.

"What?"

"Oh come on, don't even act like you don't know what I am thinking." She scoffs. I shrug my shoulders and finish dumping the popcorn into a bowl. "Dean is single now and that means...."

"Means what? Nina he literally just broke up with her tonight. I am not going to be some rebound. Besides, what if he doesn't like me like that." I grab the bowl of popcorn and three cups of hot chocolate while she grabs the rest.

I hear her walking behind me laughing quietly, whispering, "Scarlett, we both know he is into you."

I roll my eyes and try to hide my smile as I sit down at the end of the couch. Everyone grabs a cup of hot chocolate and sits down to watch whatever movie the guys finally chose. Gladiator. I love this movie but I always end up crying in the end. Nina is cuddling on Caleb's lap on the floor. Jake is sitting on the recliner and Dex and Dean are on the couch, Dex next to me.

"Dude I need an armrest I can't sit in the middle. Switch me spots?" Dex says to Dean. Dean rolls his eyes and sits next to me and Dex moves to the other end of the couch with a grin that I don't miss before he looks back to the screen.

"Sorry," Dean whispers. "I can sit on the floor if you want."

"No," I say too quickly. "I mean, no it's alright. You're not bugging me, but if you don't want to sit next to me that's fine."

"No, I would rather sit next to you actually." He gives me that adorable side smirk as he reaches over me to grab the bowl of popcorn. I grab a handful and stuff my mouth to hide my smile and almost want to smack my forehead because I am sure that it doesn't look too attractive. During the entire movie, Dean keeps finding ways to touch me. Whether it be to keep passing the popcorn and slightly gliding our hands or lightly elbowing me when I get completely into the movie, but I feel all giddy when he does it.

At the end of the movie, I end up crying, like always and Dean softly laughs. "Shut up" I joke as I go to wipe my tears. Before I do, his thumb wipes the tear that is resting on my cheek and I look into his blue eyes. We bore into each other's eyes intensely, that is until Jake turns the light on, bringing us back to reality.

"Alright, I am hitting the sheets guys. I got work early in the morning." Jake says as he stands up from the recliner, stretching his arms. I look around at everyone and meet eyes with Nina. She is staring at Dean and me with an 'I told you so' grin on her face and I stick my tongue out before smiling back.

"Yeah babe, I have to get going too. See you tomorrow?" Caleb says to Nina. She nods and kisses him goodbye.

Dex clears his throat before saying, "Hey Dean do you think you can give me a ride bro?" Dean looks at me and nods his head as he stands up.

"Yeah, that's fine." He tells Dex. They start walking towards the front door when Dex says bye to Nina and me. Dean turns around to look back at me still sitting on the couch. "Bye Scarlett. I'll see you in the morning. Later Nina." He gives me one last side smile and winks before he walks out the door and I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding.
