The moody grey clouds covered the London sky as the pitter-patter of raindrops hit against the double glazed window.

The sweet aroma of perfumed incense filled the air as Selassi's doey brown eyes looked outside, observing the rain droplets running down the window. Her slim warm chestnut arms lay across her stomach as she laid on the bed, lost in her thoughts.

2 weeks.

That's how long ago her parents unfortunately perished in a car crash which made their bodies completely unrecognisable. They were going to a party in Osu, a prosperous area situated in Accra, the capital city of Ghana.

She felt the warmth of fresh tears caress her smooth cheeks and she let out a shaky sigh like she had been doing for the last couple days. A part of her died with them and at this point, her grief was all that consumed her mind.

But she knew couldn't lay here forever,"a woman's work is never finished, no matter how tough shit gets" is something her mother chimed religiously. A slight chuckle left her lips as she reminisced about that fond memory of her mother and before she could sigh heavily again, the sizzling sound of food cooked woke up her from her trance state.

Selassi got up from the king-sized bed, stretching out her body and making her way to the en-suite bathroom. Entering the shower, the hot water glided down her tall figure as she cleaned herself. After she finished, she soothed her tired skin with the smooth texture of the cocoa butter.

She put on a simple tee with high waisted jeans and trainers before making her way to the kitchen. Standing by the stove was her boyfriend of 6 months, Theo. He was cooking breakfast, flexing his arm a little while mixing the scrambled eggs. Selassi stood by the door, admiring him as he moved around the kitchen, plating the food for him and her.

She sauntered towards him, snaking her slim arms around his waist and placed soft kisses on his back which caused chills down his spine. She finally lay her head against his back as he continued with what he was doing. Instant relief washed over her as if she could breathe properly again.

The sudden news about her parents' death was something she felt that she wasn't ready to tell Theo because to be honest, she wasn't sure if her baggage would be too much for him. She tried hiding her grief from him as much as possible but she sensed he knew something was wrong with her.

She wanted to keep enjoying her relationship with him because it was one of the few things that kept her going.

" Gotta let go of me if you want to eat, Selassi," he said in a deep husky voice and Selassi slowly let go as Theo continued to plate their food.

They sat down at the table and started to eat their food, Selassi was scoffing her food down since she hadn't eaten much in the past few days. Theo eyed her curiously, watching her baby hairs fall against her clear face. He couldn't help but chuckle and she noticed this which caused her to smile a little, it was that same infectious smile that drew him to her 6 months ago.

"You enjoy your first night here?" he said, staring at her intently.

"Yeah, but you weren't slick tho. I know you trying to play with me down there last night, you cunt"  She looked at him with an 'mmhmm' look on her face.

" You acting like you didn't enjoy my fingers all up in your wet walls, baby girl" His whisper caressed her ears, giving her an instant tingle. They both looked at each other for a bit before bursting into laughter.

He picked up their plates and she got up, following him to the sink as they washed their plates and put them away.

Selassi went to her bag perched on the sofa, lightly touching the brown padded letter.  It had been sitting there for a couple of days and she knew it had something to do with her parents but she hadn't been able to bring herself to open it.
