A few months had passed by and Selassi had settled in working and living in Weija for the time being. It wasn't where she wanted to be right now but it seemed like whenever she wanted to look for a flight back to London, there was literally nothing at all and it had been like months now.
She even attempted to find travel agents but it seemed they had no flights either. This demonic entity was determined to keep her no matter what but she hadn't worked that out yet, as of now she was rushing to Kotoka airport to pick up Nina.
Having her was the closest thing to having any family right now, her extended family had her feeling some type of way because she didn't really know them that well. She decided that Nina needed to present while she went through this pregnancy, the salon was being managed by the salon manager they collectively hired.
Parking perfectly into the spot, she got out into the humid night air. The warm weather only made feel a little tired but she mustered all the energy she had to walk to the Arrivals section, the cool air hit her making her sigh in relief.
She sat down on the nearby bench, looking around in hopes of seeing Nina. Her protruding bump was cleverly hidden by a loose tee as she wore cycling shorts to complete her maternity fit for the day.
Suddenly everything became dark as she felt hands over her eyes but the lingering scent of woman's fragrance made her know who it was and she jumped quickly, embracing her longtime friend. The hug was an equal comfort for both friends as this was longest they were apart from each other, the hug was a sense of warmth and familiarity that Selassi so desperately lacked but needed during her time in Ghana.
" Bitch, you're finally here. You don't know how much I missed you, I'm so glad we can get spend time toget-" Selassi's rambling stopped when she saw who Nina had brought with her. Her whole spine went cold as she froze there, he only seemed to shift his eyes a little between her and his luggage.
No greeting was exchanged between them as Nina gestured to them to go. The warm air hit again like a slap in the face as they walked towards the car, they all got in and Selassi was off, driving carefully.
"I missed you too, sis. It's good to be here but it's hot as fuckkkkkk tho" Nina expressed, fanning herself, making both Selassi and Theo chuckle.
The breeze caressed the faces as Selassi drove the night traffic, Accra was bustling with a lively hubbub of people going out and eating out. Afrobeats blared from cars to club hotspots whilst hawkers ran through crowds of traffic, selling everything from plantain chips to furniture before the green lights came on.
They kept on going until they reached the house. The Brown family home was a little older than the new builds surrounding it, a rustic European architecture was embedded in its very infrastructure. Holding an intimidating feel, it was adorned with intricate concrete details that cemented the old world feel of the house.
Nina and Theo hadn't really seen anything like this. Nina knew that Selassi was comfortable but she wasn't aware that her parents were living such luxury like this. The gateman/house help, Kwame quickly closed the gate, running to get both Nina and Theo's luggage and taking them inside.
Theo looked around curiously, feeling a little jealous at how well Selassi's family were doing. it made him realise how a little they knew each other, he didn't care that they had only been going out for a couple of months, this felt like she had been purposely omitting parts of her personal life from him and he didn't really like that.
Walking through the main door, Selassi was surprised to see that James was here with Auntie Diane, chatting it up as he lived here. She knew it wouldn't be long before James and Theo had chest-beating competition between each other and she wasn't the right frame of mind to deal with any nonsense.
