The London weather was in one of its usually mood swings with windy rain hitting Nina's face as she walked towards Theo's flat building. Approaching the entrance, she quickly thanked the man holding door for her and entered the empty lift before it closed.
Pressing Theo's floor number, she stood thinking about what had occurred in the past week. She never really thought any of her sneaky links would lead to her becoming potentially stabbed in her own salon.
The rage in that girl's eyes was something dark that traumatised her. Nina simply wanted to confide in her best friend about this but lately, Selassi wasn't picking up her phone and it was beginning to both annoy and worry her.
That's why she was here today to see Theo, hopefully, she would find out if he had been able to reach her.
Finally reaching his flat, she knocks on the door as it opened and a woman came out, barely dressed. Nina had no words when Theo's face appeared, simply walking in.
" I'm not even going to ask why she's here because you and I both know that. I only came to see if you heard from Selassi lately. She's hasn't been answering much, I'm starting to get worried about her." She said, sitting down on the sofa.
" She hasn't called me back since I um. Never mind" Theo said, feeling the remorse growing as he recalled his last call with her.
" I'm not going to even ask who the girl was because I already know what it is you're doing. How you could do this, Theo? What's wrong with you?" Nina was fuming.
"It wasn't like I wanted to, Nina. Things with Selassi has just been...hard uno. " Theo dragged his hand down his face.
" Hard enough that you have fuck another girl? While Selassi is grieving? Really, nigga?" Nina tilted her head to the side.
Theo shuffled, walking towards the window. He knew that Selassi didn't deserve what he did to her but to be honest, he felt that she wasn't opening up to him enough, that was a real triggering point for him.
" It wasn't like I wanted to, Nina. I just felt neglected but I know I was wrong ." Theo said, putting his hands on the window.
Nina ran her fingers through her golden sisterlocks as she thought about how Selassi's wellbeing, it began to dawn on her that the reading may be truly real and she feared for her friend.
" You need to tell her the whole truth, Theo because right now, I can't imagine what's running through her mind," Nina remarked.
" I will when the time is right" Theo replied, turning his head to see Nina eyeing with suspicion.
" Don't wait too late because if I was her, I would make sure to fuck another dude to make it even," Nina said, nonchalantly and walked out without another word.
As the door shut, Theo started to wonder how he would redeem himself. Though they had been going out for a few months, he felt strongly about Selassi without a shadow of a doubt.
The flat became eerily quiet as Theo continued to be lost in his thoughts, not sensing something emerging from behind him. Female hands slinked around his muscular waist, creeping up his pecs and this didn't seem perturbing for him as he enjoyed the intimate touch.
The hands continued until they reached his neck, caress his neck and carefully wrapping the individual fingers around, asphyxiating his throat softly which had him aroused. Bit by bit, the choking became intense until Theo realised that it wasn't sexual and that in fact, he was being strangled.
He pulled at his neck, trying pry at the fingers he couldn't feel physically with his hands. His body began to levitate in the air, as the entity behind threw him to the other side of the flat.
