Delirious Pov.

Ok I was scared. I mean how was I not! Me and Evan are at the adoption center waiting to see if we were approved to let us have a kid. We been wanting one for the past few months and today was when we said we would get one for real. This was really happening. First time here and already people who worked here gave us disgusted looks. Evan hated that, and he was scared thinking they won't approve. Then a woman came. It was the one that hasn't gave us that look.... Yet. "Ok, we checked house seeing it was good. Y'all answered all the questions we needed so you can adopt one." It shocked me and Evan. "Seriously?" I asked. "Isn't that why you're here?" she asked.

"Yea I mean. It just seems that your calm about that and were 2 umm guys," Evan said. She looked at us. "Don't worry. Those people out there is just people who hasn't found love yet. Love is love and I can see it through you two. You two are close. Just like the last couple. It was 2 women though. They were here before you two. Their over there right now picking a child to. Now it's your turn." She gestured us to come. We followed her. I held Evan's hand because he was happy and excited. It was adorable. We're finally getting a kid! We went to a room that had a lot of kids. Little girl and boys playing around. She left us be. We saw the 2 women picking up a little girl. One woman giggled as she held up the little girl when she was playing around. They nodded and left. Evan looked at me. "How do we know which one? There all so..." Evan hesitated to say that. "Evan don't worry will know. Come on. Look around. Maybe one will come to us," I said pushing him on the back a little. He nodded started walking around looking at all the kids. Some came to him. Evan knows how to take care of them I mean he works at a day care with the others. I walked as some kids came to me. I talked to some. They seemed fun, but one caught my attention. There was a kid in the corner having a board game. It was battle ships. I went up to him. "Can I play?" He looked at me. He had chocolate brown eye's and messy brown hair. He looked away. Stubborn. It gave me an idea. "O I'm sorry. Your right. It would be so embarrassing when a kid was beaten by an grown man." I grinned. He looked straight at me. "Maybe. Or I'm just saving the embarrassment from you. Be ashamed when a grown man was beaten by a little kid." He grinned. Brave motherfucker. We started playing the game. After 10 minutes we were both on our last ship. It was close. "b......7!"

"You sunk my battleship!" I won! He started yelling I cheated. I just laughed. He started to tackle me. I just laid there. He pretended to shoot me, and I played dead. Then all the other kids jumped on me. "Evan Help! I've been ambushed by that kid!" Evan just laughed. The little kid I was playing helped me up. "Say you want to come with us." He looked at us then stepped back. "I guess that's a no. Jonathan I don't know what kid wants to come with us." I looked at the kids again. He was back at his corner. Evan looked to. I looked at him. Evan smiled. I messed with his black-haired flaw hawk. "Jonathan!" I started to tickle him. He started to laugh. He tried doing the same, but I had a better grip. We stopped, getting up. We talked to all the kids, but none wanted to have a same gender dad. But they kept playing with us. I guess it wasn't meant to be. Maybe those people were right. Evan said we should go. Another couple came. All the kids started running to them unlike us. Evan was sad. I kissed his cheek to cheer him up. We opened the door about to leave until. "I want to come with you." We looked down seeing the little boy I played battleships with. A woman came and picked him up. "I want this child! He looks so adorable! Steve let's take this one." The boy had a sad face and in his eye's, I could see he was scared to. Pretty much some kids didn't have a choice like some parents. These were one of them. "I'm sorry but he's with us," Evan said. The man looked at him glaring at him dead. It scared Evan. I pulled Evan behind me. "Like my wife said we want this one."

"Ok let me say this. Like my Husband said. He's with us. He wants to come with us," I said dead center in his eyes. I saw the little boy smile. The man punched me but as I fell I kicked him upside the jaw. The boy was able to get out the woman's grip running to us. Evan opened his arms for the little boy to jump on him and Evan held on him tight. I could tell the boy was happy. A woman came in seeing I was on the ground and the other man as well. "These men hurt my husband! They just attacked us when we held that child and yanked him off me when he was holding me!" The woman grinned. The adoption woman took the child away from Evan's arms. "Well then. You two are leaving. Go back to the room and we are not letting you adopt the child or any child ever again. And you two would like this one?" They both nodded. "Let's start the papers," she said taking the boy and the couple. The woman and man grinned at us. Then they left. I looked at Evan who was upset. I bet he wanted the kid to. I got up, grabbing Evan's hand. The little kids walked around with sad faces. We waved good bye to them and they did to. I walked back to the room we were supposed to be when we got the kid but doesn't look like that way. I felt bad. I looked at Evan to see he had tears coming down. "I'm sorry Evan." I kissed his lips to calm him. "I-it's fine Jonathan. I thought he was the one. When I saw you play battle ships I thought he had to be the one. The one we can keep and have a family together but now those people have him and I'm worried about him." I hugged him tight. I heard foot-steps come. I saw the nice woman again with the kid. I didn't hear the door open. I must have been worried about Evan to ignore everything else. She held the boy by the hand going to her desk. She had some papers, signing it. I guess he wanted to say good bye. I bet those papers say me and Evan can't adopt. As she finished she told us to sign. We signed in the bottom. Ok this was the first and may be the last time we could ever have a kid. There goes Daisy having a cousin. She wanted a cousin to. She looked through the papers then smiled at us. I bet she's happy were not getting a kid. She got up going in front of us and then looked at the Kid. "Matthew these are your parents now. Jonathan Dennis and Evan Fong Dennis." I was shock. Wait that's us. I remembered that Evan wanted my last name, but kept his last name as his middle name. The boy looked so happy he jumped on Evan. Evan was happy to. We all hugged. We had a son! "Now Matthew your name is now Matthew Dennis. Enjoy your new home," she said smiling.

"But how? I thought the parents were taking him?" I asked.

"That couple aren't getting a kid. We had witnesses. A lot of them. The kids saw you defending Matthew from them. It was a good thing you did. You seem, better parents. Enjoy." We smiled. Evan picked up Matthew and we walked out. Evan started playing with him on our way to the truck. It was so cute. Evan put him in the back and got in the passenger seat. I turned on the truck and drove off. Evan looked so happy. I took one hand from the stirring wheel taking Evan's hand. He smiled at me. "Thank you for defending me."

"Hey Matt, it's fine. You don't deserve to be treated like that," I said.

"I didn't want to go at first, but y'all were different from those other people. You played a game with me and you showed care. I wanted that. It didn't look like the other kids wanted 2 same gender dads, but I don't mind. I'm happy I was able to go with you Papa and Dad." It shocked Evan. I just laughed with Matthew. "First stop is stores. Let's go get you some clothes, toys, games, and somethings to put in your room." Matthew smiled happy. "Yes! Now I can get a game I can beat you at!" Matthew challenged me. "What you talking aboot? I'm am the champion!" I teased him. Evan smiled at us just giggling. "Me and Papa will team up and defeat you."

"That's right! Will defeat King Delirious!" Evan said high fiving Matthew at the back. I loved this. Seeing Evan smile now I'm happier seeing my son happy to.
