F E L walked to school by herself the following Monday. She saw Peter had texted her early that morning before she woke up.

Peter: sorry I can't walk with you this morning I left early to make up a test I missed
Peter: see ya at lunch? read at 7:10 A.M.

She couldn't tell if he was ditching her or if he had a legitimate excuse. She was hoping he wouldn't lie to her.

It stung. He was one of her only friends but it looked like it was going to be awkward until things settled.

Gwen and Harry were still out of town—meaning she was going to be alone most of the days. There's Ned too that she could chat with, although she didn't mind completely. She still had her books to pass time with.

Her morning classes were fine. She and Peter still sat together with Ned. It was quiet between the two besides the good morning and reviewing their homework. It was hard not noticing how they kept to themselves compared to their usual chatter. Ned sensed some tension between them but didn't bring it up. Part of Fel wondered if Peter had mentioned anything to Ned or kept things private. Though that was a question she couldn't bring up the courage to ask.

She was kind of embarrassed after everything. Here she was, thinking Peter was so oblivious but in reality it was her.

Lunch soon rolled around after her second block.

She sat in the corner of the cafeteria, not sitting at her usual table with the others. It was secluded, next to the big glass windows so she could enjoy the sun.

She pulled out her phone, clicking on an application called Discord. She tapped on Spider-Man's name.

hey
want to hang again after school?

She set her phone aside, expecting some time to pass before Web-head could answer but he responded immediately.

Yes

Fel giggled at his response of emojis, feeling warm and jittery after texting him. She was excited to see him today, but some nerves still lingered.

She had one thing to look forward to this evening.

S H E and Peter walked home in silence after school. The only exchange of words consisted of hello's and goodbyes much to her dismay.

She could feel him slowly drift away, which caused her mind to race. It was like clawing at sand, expecting to grasp something but it fell through her fingers not wanting to stay.

Her mind couldn't be soothed. It found comfort in chaos and discomfort in silence. Today felt more exhausting than others, especially with thoughts of her father lingering as her brain kept being flooded with moments from his burial.

Felicity was nervous traveling to the burial ceremony. It was silent in the car. Mom drove them to the cemetery, about an hour drive outside of the city with traffic.

She couldn't remember much of what happened in those moments before his burial except for time passing quickly. Fel was still shocked this was happening so soon, considering she's only had two days to process. Photos of him in action as a superhero and during his time at Stark Industries circulated the internet and news outlets hours after his death. Everything was a harsh reminder of her new reality. She hasn't see him yet. She didn't know if she wanted to. Mom decided to not hold a memorial service, just a reception so this would be the only chance she would have to see him. One final moment.
