The Beginning

I miss him. His eyes. His lips. His presence. Dati, sa tuwing dindilat ko ang mga mata ko, he is always there in front of me. Smiling. But now I see nothing. All I do is cry and smell his scent na nakadikit sa kamang ito. It hurts that someone truly loves you will be taken from you.

His promise. I hope he won't break it. Kahit na impossibleng mangyari, I will still believe him and I will wait for him to come back.

Someone's knocking on my door so I wiped my tears quickly before she could pass through my room.

"Lindsey?" It's mom.

"Lindsey, breakfast is ready."

I released a sigh, trying to clear out my thoughts.

Maybe she noticed my weariness.

I turned when the door opens.

"I thought you're still asleep."she says, while sitting beside me. "C'mon, I cooked your favorite"

Dinungaw niya ang mukha ko nang nakangiti. Tipid ko rin siyang nginitan bago tumango.

"Is this about Lucas again?"

"How many times did I told you Lindsey, you deserve someone better and brave, someone who will never leave you behind-"

"He never left mom"

A tear fell down my cheeks and I quickly wiped it out before seeing my mom's reaction.

She gasped and i can read from her eyes that she doesn't want us argue with this again. She'll never understand though.

I stood up and slowly, I walked towards the window. I can't help but feel weak everytime I miss him.

Looking up the sky, thousands of fragile memories flashed out.

Lucas...

"Mom..." I muttered.

She didn't responded.

Babalik ako. Babalik ako kung saan nag-umpisa ang lahat. Maybe this is the right way to satisfy my loneliness of him. To go back to the start and find out his promise.

"Please take me back to Gensan."

A shadow of reminiscence flared-up. I remember it clearly. Am standing now on the bitter end but the sweet start will never shatter with my dreary heart.

28, May 2018, General Santos International Airport.

A part of me doesn't get my mom's point of sending me here in this city. In other words, this is freedom!
I took off my aviators while walking towards the way. Luminga-linga ako sa paligid while strolling my luggage.

"Lindsey! Over here!"

Napangiti ako at sabik siyang nilapitan. He looks so tall and manly, taliwas sa itsura niya noong huli naming kita.
