a decent amount of rights 😌

After Carnation's panic attack- much more severe than the one she had at homecoming last year, she breaks into her Sour Patch Kids.

Clara and Beverly stay with her until curfew, proving comfort and moral support. In all honesty, they haven't a clue what to tell her.

Billions of questions are flooding Carn's head.

How did this happen? We used a condom! How am I going to tell Bill that he's going to be a father? How am I going to tell my mom that she's going to be a grandmother? How am I going to tell all of my friends? What happens when I get huge and the whole school figures it out? How am I going to raise a child in high school? Can I still pursue a higher education?

"I'm going to tell Bill before anyone else," she decides.

"That's a good start," Beverly encourages.

"I just can't believe this is happening."

"Everything's going to be okay," Bev assures her.

"We're going to help you every step of the way," Clara promises. "And if anyone gives you a hard time, we'll beat the hell out of them."

"Thanks, guys," Carn says, dumping the sour coating from the bottom of the bag into her mouth.

Bill calls her first, to check in. She answers with cold, yet clammy palms and a dry mouth.

"Hey C-Carn! H-how are you feeling?"

"Better," she half-lies. Her migraine feels significantly less bad, but she's going through some really horrific emotions. "How was school?"

"Fine. Kind of b-b-b-b...boring."

"Listen, Bill. Can we go out tomorrow? We need to talk about something," she fights against her voice cracking.

"O-of course. E-ev-everything o-okay?"

"Mhm," she hums, not trusting herself to keep it together with words.

"Wuh-well, g-g-good."

"I'll see you tomorrow then."

Bill is hurt. Carn is never one to end a phone conversation abruptly. Is everything really okay with her?

"S-see you th-then. I l-love you!"

"You too."

You too? What kind of half assed response is that?

School the next day is.... awkward, to say the least.

Bill notices that his girlfriend seems to be avoiding him. She also looks very upset about something. When he addresses this to Richie, however, he waves it off.

"She's only been talking Clara and Beverly all day. I wouldn't take it personal, maybe she realized she's a lesbian."

Bill whacks him.

At the end of the day, he meets Carn by her locker.

"Ruh-ready?"

She nods, not making eye contact with him. As he walks her to the trashy pizza parlor across the street, their usual after school date spot, he lets his hand hang by his side, waiting for her to grab it. However, Carn pretends not to notice, tightly gripping her bookbag straps.

What could I have done wrong? Why is she acting like this??

Overflowing with negative thoughts, Bill's mind moves left and right a hundred miles a minute.
