"BILL!!!" Carnation sprints downstairs, nearly stumbling and dying. Running into the large family room, she exclaims, "BILL DENBROUGH!"
His sapphire eyes glance up from his laptop, glimmering with excitement. "What is it, C-Carn?" (his stutter has improved tremendously since they were teenagers).
She climbs over the side of the sofa, leaping on top of him and kissing his lips over and over and over.
"Carn. T-t-talk to me."
But she has no words. She simply hands him a wad of toilet paper.
"G-gross. Is there a t-t-tampon in here?"
"No, you fool. Open it."
He unwraps it, and a pregnancy test fell into his hand. With two lines.
"YES!!!!" he exclaims, standing up and doing a sort of pirouette. Taking Carn's hand, he twirls her around and pulled her close. "We're hav-having another k-kid!"
"We're having another kid!" she repeats, beaming like never before.
"And y-you're t-totally sure?"
"Absolutely. I took a second test right before."
"This is a-a-amazing!! Where's C-Claire?" he looks around the room, like the nine-year old could be hiding under the coffee table.
"At Penny's house, goofball. Her mom is dropping her off around three."
"R-r-remind me, which one is P-Penny?"
"The one whose mom gave us a hard time at back to school night."
"Ah. Hope-hopefully her d-d-daughter's kinder."
"Well, Claire does love spending time with her, and she's the kindest soul on the planet, so I'd suppose she is."
"I j-just c-can't believe she's going to b-be a sister," he runs his fingers through his hair in excitement.
"Me neither!"
Life seems to be, for the most part, perfect. The couple is, well, rich. Living in their Manhatten penthouse with their daughter (and husky, Juneau) makes them the most happy family. And now, after trying for a few months, they're easily able to welcome another member to their family.
"Let's go out tonight," Bill proposes, taking both of his wife's hands. "To a bar- n-n-no, not a bar, you c-can't d-drink."
Carn laughs. "That new diner, maybe?"
"Sounds perfect."
At dinner that night, Claire is thrilled at the fact that she was getting a younger sibling.
But, to the whole family's surprise, she gets two siblings- twin brothers.
It's a shock for all three of them because Carn and Bill refused to know anything except for the health of the baby (babies, really). So when the doctor asks if she's ready to pop out the second one, she vomits into the trashcan by her bedside. Needless to say, she successfully gives birth to the two sweet boys, Jeremy and Atticus.

"Shhh. Safe place, baby, safe place," Carn's voice is hushed as she cradles a screaming Jeremy in her arms. It takes a few minutes to calm him down, but eventually, the tears subside. She gives the four-year old lots of gentle kisses on his soft strawberry blond hair.
