entering that gateway to a captured ocean, her steps were heavy with anticipation for everything inside.
flightless birds grace her feet with their sweet words and the harpy eagles placed a crown of sunlight on her head.
the bridges connected her curiosity to everything that beckoned for her to run away.
(it's the closest she could get to going wild without scaring her mother.)
the fogged glass held beasts that hung on pot grown trees like heavy necklaces, on display for her to take her pick.
sharks swam above our heads like storm clouds. they feasted on the offered bowels from their captors hands. her ear pressed against the glass, they told her the desires of their hearts. their need to hunt.
(and she knew their pain.)
pressing her palms against the smudged glass, the lion within confessed his love to her in the softest of tones.
only she could coax the truth out of him with her universal eyes.
-her mind is the most untamed
thing i've ever encountered.
