Sierra Woke up extremely excited. Today was the last day before her 17th birthday, the birthday where you are finally able to find your mate. You see, as the Alpha's daughter she knows all about being a werewolf. She learned about how once you turn 17 from then on you will be able to find your mate.
The lucky ones find their mate on their 17th birthday. The unlucky ones don't ever find their mate because their mate is in a tribe on the other side of the world. That would be about 65% of werewolves. Sierra really hope she would be part of the other 35%. She looked just like her mother, the Luna. She had long blonde hair and piercing purple eyes. She was tall, slim, and athletic. But unlike her parents, she was quiet and modest. She liked to blend with the crowd as much as she could.
She got ready for school and headed downstairs where her mother was cooking and her dad was reading the paper at the table. She kissed them each on the cheek and grabbed a piece of toast on her way out.
"Honey, where are you going? Aren't you going to eat with us?" her mother called to her. She backed up and said, "No, I have to go early because I have to help Mrs. Kawoski grade papers. See you guys later!"
Mrs. Kawoski was her favorite teacher ever since she started high school. She was nice and funny and understood Sierra. Sierra walked to school quickly because she was a bit late. She got Mrs. Kawoski's classroom and said good morning and got right to work.
She was grading freshman English papers when the bell rang. She walked to her seat since she had Mrs. Kawoski's Honors English for first period. Unfortunately, the first person to come in was Ben. Ben was the most popular guy in school and all the girls thought he was hot but Sierra just found him repulsing. He loved to tease Sierra because he thought it was funny how she reacted.
"Hey Sierra. How are you doing today?" He asked in a fake gentlemanly tone. He smirked and she said, "Well I was doing fine until you got here".
He chuckled and said, "Aww do I intimidate you? Its ok sweetheart you can admit it."
Sierra rolled her eyes and growled. She responded, "No if anything I intimidate you and don't ever call me sweetheart."
He smirked and said, "Whatever you say, sweetheart." She was about to reply when the bell rang and class started. He bugged her so much. She wondered how he even got in an honors class.
When it was finally time, Sierra headed to the cafeteria for lunch. She found her friend Stella and they sat at their usual table. She glanced over and saw her crush, Trey, with Ben and some football guys and cheerleaders. Unfortunately for Sierra, Trey was Ben's best friend. Sierra could hangout with Trey but she did not want to hangout with the rest of their posse. She was perfectly fine hanging out with Stella.
"Sierra! Are you even listening?" Stella said as she snapped her fingers in front of Sierra's face. Sierra snapped backed to reality and said, "What? Sorry I spaced out."
Stella rolled her eyes and said, " I SAID, I think I found my mate!"
"Wait, What? Stella that's awesome! Who is it?" Sierra said ecstatically. Stella had turned 17 three weeks ago and had been searching ever since. Stella bit her lip and looked nervous.
"Stella... Whats wrong? Who is your mate?" Sierra said. Something was definitely bugging Stella.
Stella sighed and said, "You're not going to like it. I am not sure if it is because I haven't touched him so I will tell you who after I find out for sure. Just give me some time. Ok?" Sierra nodded her head.
Sierra knew what Stella meant. When you know your mate, you will have this feeling, Sierra can't describe it because she has never felt it, but its supposed to feel like a longing. And when you touch your mate, you should feel sparks running in your body. That must be what Stella meant.
They finished their lunches and went to class.
When Sierra got to class she sat in her usual seat next to Trey. Trey's usually messy short brown hair was all gelled up and he was dressed up. Curious, Sierra asked, "Whats with the fancy schmancy?"
Trey turned to her smiling and said, "Tonight I'm going over to my potential mate's house. Our parents set it up. We are going to see if we are a match. I wanted to be ready early and I guess I got carried away".
Sierra's heart sunk. Potential mate? That means that the likeliness of them being mates just decreased to about 10%. Sierra gave him a forced smile and said, "That's fantastic. I'm really happy for you." She thought she heard her voice cracked at the end and hoped he didn't. he furrowed his brows together, obviously confused, but the bell stopped him from getting to investigate.
When school was over, Sierra walked home. She called Stella to see if they could hang out but she was busy. Stella was busy a lot because boys liked her so they like to hangout with her. Stella had pretty brown hair with eyes that matched it. She was pretty, but in a cute way. Sierra was gorgeous but didn't know it.
She just hoped her future mate would.
