Sierra stared at the shut door. She had never had such an outburst before. She walked back to the couch, almost zombie-like, and began eating and watching movies. She could hear Ben's heartbeat outside her door. His scent was so tempting. She found herself just barely resisting the pull. She looked around before finding her cell phone. She knew exactly how to get rid of him.
(Texts will be italicized, and flashbacks will be bold)
Sierra: heyy! I need you to get Ben away from my house. Away from my life if possible but I will settle for my house. For now.
Stella: I know exactly how.
Sierra: How?
Stella: You forget who I am dating don't you...
Sierra: Are you going to have the beat him up? Can I watch :D
Stella: No but you smiled. So that's a step.
Sierra: Well screw you too.
Stella: Don't mind if I do ;) Gtg he will be gone soon I promise xoxo
Sierra: Fiiiine bye :)
Sierra smiled at the small device in her hand. Stella was the best friend she could have asked for. She thought of all the times she had with Stella. The fights, the disasters, the fun, the scars, the secrets, and the haunted pasts. She knew that no matter how mad Stella was at her she could count on Stella to be there for her.
Sierra heard some movement outside and Ben's scent began to get further and further until finally Sierra lost track of it. She sighed before tuning back into a movie that was on TV. It was one of her favorites, Bruce Almighty. It never failed to make Sierra laugh.
Sierra got out her homework. She hated it. She pulled out her algebra 2 book and turned to the right page. 29 problems for homework. She was not impressed. Unfortunately she was good at math so it was expected she was in the honors class. She sighed and looked at her phone. 0 new messages. Sometimes Sierra wished she was popular. But she was generally happy as she was.
Her phone buzzed.
Dad: Hello! I will be out of town dealing with rogues for a couple of days. Make sure to tell your mother!
Mom: Hey honey! I need to go visit your grandmother so I will be gone for a few days. Tell your father for me! Bye
Sierra groaned at the screen. Then she realized... She got the whole house to herself! She immediately notified Stella of the situation but told her to stay hush-hush. She cleaned up her dishes and got everything all nice and clean before running up to her room, all pumped up from the excitement. She threw on a cute top, jeans, and her favorite tennis shoes. She ran a brush through her hair and put on a bit of berry lip gloss. She could feel the slight weakness growing within her because of everything with Ben but did her best to push that aside. She heard Stella pull up and she ran outside after grabbing her purse. She hopped in the shotgun and smiled at Stella.
Stella stepped on it and drove to Leah's house. Leah was a senior who threw the best parties in the whole school. Sierra's stomach began writhing in pain. She groaned and leaned forward, clutching her stomach. Stella rubbed her back and soother her with her words. Finally, the pain began to seep away as they pulled up at Leah's house. That's when Sierra knew he was there.
She hopped out of the car and was greeted by Nick, a really nice guy friend she had. She hugged him and kissed his cheek. He knew all about her situation and was really trying to help. And his looks didn't hurt either. He had chestnut wavy hair, a nice, chiseled body, and a killer smile to make any lady's heart melt. That was a direct quote Sierra got from him.
She laughed at something he said and he swung his arm around her shoulders. She smiled and wrapped her arm around his waist, both friendly gestures. she smiled and leaned into him as they went around, greeting various friends and new faces. Sierra thought Nick was amazing. He had always been their. But there had been a time when she was there for him...
When he turned 17, he almost immediately felt the pull. Nick searched and searched for weeks before finding her. Much to his horror. She was 32. Married with 4 kids. A controlling, bitchy, tired, old mother with stretch marks. She immediately rejected him. Sierra held the crying Nick in her arms many times. Stella was just as close to him as Sierra, but she had been gone on a mission trip.
Nick beat up that kid from another pack when he called Sierra a nerd. In the first grade. They had always been there for each other. Sierra was so thankful for Nick.
"Hey, I'm going to go get a drink. Be right back," Nick said, pinching her cheek. She laughed and sat down next to Stella. Stella raised an eyebrow questioning what she had just witnesses. Sierra winked.
"Sierra, you have a mate," Stella's voice was strained. Sierra's wolf whimpered. Mate.
Sierra rolled her eyes internally. But he hurt us! I don't care if you want his wolf, not going to happen.
Stella smirked and Sierra realized it must have appeared as if she had spaced off again.
"I know, but hey, I don't like my mate, he was rejected and somehow survived, he's hot, I'm not totally ugly, it could work," Sierra said, reasoning with her. Somehow, Nick had not gone into full depression after rejection. Something Sierra still wondered about.
"Ok, well, remember. Your wolf is going to have a fit. She will whine and beg and plead. And the next full moon is in four days and you found your mate so, you know what that means. I personally am excited but you have your hands full already and if you don't have someone safe to relieve you, you won't even be safe in the same house as you father with the scent you will be giving off." Stella ranted.
Sierra wanted to laugh. Stella and her rants. Nick came back and Sierra stood up, kissing his cheek. He seemed a bit surprised. Sierra was too. Not because she kissed him though. Because of the growl emitting from behind her. She slowly turned around, already aware of who was there.
Her mate. And he was pissed.
