Sierra groaned as she walked home. She knew her parents would somehow find out about her mate. She decided to tell them at dinner that night. She opened the door and tossed down her bag.
"Mom? Dad?" she yelled out to the empty house. She didn't get a reply so she just shrugged and headed up to her room. She pretended like she didn't care but secretly she felt a little bit hurt that they were never home when she got there besides volleyball season.
She plopped on her bed and blew out an exaggerated breath. She got on a werewolf social networking site. It was like facebook, but just for werewolves. She noticed his status had been updated from 'single' to 'found my mate!' She rolled her eyes and closed her laptop. She looked out her window. There was two kids on the street, a boy and a girl. She opened her window so she could hear them.
Boy: Cassie, come back! I am sorry!
Sierra thought they could only be 8.
Girl: No! you said i am stupid! I am NOT stupid!
Boy: I didn't mean it! I only said it because.. because I like you.
*the girl stopped running and turned around*
Girl: You mean it?
Boy: I pinky promise, Cassie.
*the girl ran and hugged the boy. The boy smiled and hugged her back tightly*
Girl: I like you too, Tommy.
Sierra sighed. That brought back a memory from when she was eight and she liked a boy who was 10.
*Flashback*
Sierra: Luke! Come back! that's my favorite barbie!
Luke: No way! Barbie is for stupid people!
*sierra started crying*
*Luke stopped running and came over to the crumpled Sierra*
Luke: I'm sorry Sierra. You can have your doll back.
Sierra: Thanks, Luke.
*Luke hugged Sierra*
*end of flashback*
Luke was Sierra's best guy friend since then. He would hang out with her a lot. He also hung out with Ben and Trey's crowd. When She was 15 and Luke was 17 they were getting closer and were going to start dating when he got in a nasty car crash. He has been in a coma and still was. Nobody ever spoke of him around Sierra.
Sierra put on a cute jacket and boots and went to the bus stop. She got on and rode it to the hospital. She sighed as she got off the bus. She took a deep breath calming herself before walking in. The nurse saw who it was and just handed her the clipboard. Sierra signed ina nd headed to the room she knew so well. Room 244. He had a private room because his parents' jobs paid well.
She walked up to Luke's side. He was still tan surprisingly and his golden brown hair was dirty. His once muscular body was thin and his always smiling face was grave.
Tears welled up in Sierra's eyes.
"You will never guess what I found out today. I found my mate." She said to him.
"I always thought maybe we were mates. You know I liked Trey but deep down inside I liked you too." She said, her voice filled with regret.
She continued, "I miss you. More than you could ever imagine. Maybe you're dreaming about me in there. I can only hope."
Sierra then remembered something and said, "That drunk guy that hit you went to jail last week. He was convicted of driving under the influence. I sometimes wish that it had been me in that car and not you. Everything would be so much better. you don't deserve this. I do."
By then Sierra had tears streaming down her face. She sniffled and a voice said, "Visiting hours are now over. Please exit."
She signed out and left. She got home and dinner was being set on the table. She sat down and they did their normal thing.
Finally, she said, "So, I found my mate today." Her parents eyes went wide.
"That's great, honey! Who is it?" Her mother said excitedly.
"Its err its Ben." She mumbled. Her parents exchanged smirks.
She rolled her eyes. "What was that? I don't want him as my mate!" She said. She felt a coldness. She guessed her wolf side wasn't to happy about what she said.
"Honey, You guys are so much alike. You always talk and we have always suspected you would be mates. His parents thought the same. Guess we were right." He mother said and her father nodded his head.
They finished up dinner and Sierra went to bed. At around 12:30 in the night she heard slight taps on her window. She walked over and saw Ben on the ground with a pile of pebbles in his hand.
"What the heck Ben! Its 12 at night! Go to bed!" Sierra whisper-yelled at Ben.
Ben looked needy as he said, "I tried but I can't! My wolf is dying to be with you!" Sierra rolled her eyes and said, "Stay!" She growled and put on some hoes and a jacket.
She jumped down and brushed herself off. He ran to her and wrapped her in a tight hug. Never once in her life had he hugged her but damn it felt good. She smiled and hugged him back. Maybe, they could actually like eachother.
He let go and her blood went cold from the loss of contact. He turned around and bent over saying, "Get on."
Sierra hopped on his back and giggled. Thats right, Sierra giggled. She was glad he couldn't see her because she was most likely rosy red at the time.
They went to the park and Ben sat on a swing and pulled Sierra on his lap. She would never in a million years have imagined herself like that with him.
"You know, I only teased you because I liked you,. right?" Ben said, breaking the silence.
Sierra froze, surprised. Ben liked her?! "No, I thought you hated me." She mumbled quietly.
She felt him tesne up and his grip on her tightened. "Really? Sierra, thats horrible. Did you hate me?" Ben asked.
"Well... I did... But I don't anymore." She said. He rested his chin on her shoulder.
She had found her mate.
