The night before Sinbad was to make his request, he called Esra and Omar to the throne room.
"There has been irregularities in our trade with Reim," Sinbad told them. "It's a matter that needs to be resolved quickly, therefore, I'm sending you both to Reim tonight."
Omar nodded. "I shall have the preparations made."
He bowed and then left to make the arrangements for their travels. Sinbad got up and made his way to Esra, smiling warmly as he held her face.
"Do you think you can handle it?"
She smiled. "Of course I can. You've taught me well."
"Good. I'm so proud of you." He pressed a kiss to her forehead. "You will make a great Queen."
"Not any time soon. You can't retire just yet," she laughed. "Sindria will always need you as king. The world needs you."
He gently brushed his thumb across her cheek. "Still, that throne will be yours one day. I know you will uphold your duties and the world will need you as well."
"When you have so much confidence in me, I know I can do anything."
Sinbad knew he wouldn't have any worries for her future. With all the paperwork handed off to her, Sinbad and Layla saw them off at the ship. But before Esra could board, Sinbad pulled her in for a hug. Layla couldn't help but smile as she saw a father hug is daughter like she was the most precious thing in the universe. Esra hugged him just as tightly.
"I love you, dad," she said.
He kissed the top of her head. "And I love you too, princess."
As they parted from the hug, Esra quickly kissed her father's cheek before hugging Layla. They would be gone for at least a couple of months, which was exactly why Sinbad was sending her away.
That night, he held Layla in his arms as they cuddled together in bed. He was being extra loving, if that was even possible, and Layla noticed. The way he moved his hand over every inch of her body, the way he pressed hundreds of loving kisses over her face and neck, the way he kept whispering the words 'I love you' over and over again. It was like it was the last time he was ever going to hold her. She was enjoying it though and all he wanted was to make her believe that she was the most wonderful and most beautiful woman in the world.
"Sin..." she breathed out softly. "Are you okay?"
He lifted his head from her neck to look at her face. "I'm more than okay, Layla." He held her face, gazing deep into crystal grey eyes. "I just love you so much. I love you more than life itself."
She smiled, blushing softly. "I know you do. And I love you too. More than I can say."
He couldn't help but smile too. All he could see was his own reflection in her eyes, the same way Layla could see herself in his eyes. And it would always be that way.
"Layla, I know it's not tomorrow yet but I'm going to make my request to you now."
"Okay, let's hear it. I'm curious to know what request is so important that you had to make a deal with me," she said with amusement.
He brushed his fingers through her hair, still gazing into her eyes. "I want you to stay in the palace."
She blinked in confusion. "What do you mean?"
"Exactly that. I want you to stay in the palace all day tomorrow. Don't even step a foot outside."
"That's an extremely odd request, Sin. But why?"
"Just because I said so. And you've already promised so you have to do it."
She sighed. "Fine, fine. You granted all of my wishes so I shall listen to you."
"Thank you." He breathed a sigh of relief and pressed his lips to her forehead. "That's all I want."
Layla smiled but she was concerned. His request was very strange and his behaviour was different too. An entire month of wishes simply so that she would stay in the palace for a day? It made no sense. But her worries were soon forgotten as he trailed kisses down her neck and chest, slowly pulling her clothes off as he did so.
They spent the night making slow and passionate love. Nothing rushed. Simply entwining their bodies and souls with each other. Romantic kisses, writhing bodies and nothing but pure love.
