Layla flew above Sindria in her Djinn equip to rendezvous with Sinbad in his Baal Djinn equip. The enemy created by the dark rukh were still attacking and it was getting difficult to hold them all back.
"Judar is on his way," Sinbad told her. "I'll take control above here. I'll see him coming. How's it going down there?"
"Hinahoho is protecting the shoreline and Jafar is evacuating citizens to the underground strongholds." She breathed out deeply. "It's gone quiet but there will be another wave soon. Mystras and I will be ready."
He held her face and gazed into her eyes. "Please be careful."
"And you."
He gave her a final kiss on her forehead before she had to leave. She landed down on the ground and found Mystras.
"Layla, I'll watch the east," he told her.
She nodded. "And I'll take the west."
There was a sudden sound of scuttling approaching. They both split off as Judar appeared with his army of dark rukh monsters. There was no time to think as they instantly began climbing out of holes appearing mid-air all over the country.
Layla was surrounded by hundreds of monsters but she managed to hold them back. She just hoped that Sinbad would be able to fight Judar off to put an end to the battle. Soon, the wave of monsters surrounding her came to a stop and she took a short moment to check for any citizens who may not have been able to get away. She found a woman and a young child cowering under some bushes. She quickly ran over to them.
"Let's get you to the bunker," she told them. "You won't be safe for much longer."
She led them to one of the secret doors that would lead underground. Just as she got them in and locked the hatch, she heard Mystras call her.
                              "Layla, watch out!"
She turned just in time to see an incredibly large monster about to pierce her with its talons. She was ready to block its attack with her sword but the monster whacked the sword out of her hands, making it go flying across the land. And then it came at her again, punching her hard and throwing her back across the rocky ground.
Her head smacked straight into a rock, causing her vision to become blurry. She became dazed as everything spun around her. Lifting her head, she saw the blood on the ground that was dripping from her wound.
She could hear the monster approaching her again to finish off the job. She forced herself to shake it off and her vision slowly but surely became clear. She looked up as the monster growled, running at her ready to kill her. Each second seemed to go in slow motion as her eyes widened at what she witnessed. Suddenly, Mystras appeared in front of her and the monster's claws pierced straight through his body.
                              "NOOOO!!!"
She shot up in bed in the dark room. Sinbad was instantly awake and quickly sat up to see her with her hand out in front of her as she panted heavily.
                              "Layla?"
He put the lamp on and took hold of her hand, bringing it down. It was clammy from sweat and he held her face to feel that she was sweating all over. Her breathing was extremely erratic.
"Layla." He held her face and looked at her worriedly. "It's okay. It was just a nightmare."
She looked at him and began sobbing. "No... No..." She shook her head. "It was all my fault..."
"Don't say that." He knew what she was talking about.
She cried harder. "He died because of me! It's my fault!"
He pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly. She continued to sob as she clutched onto him, the memory of that cursed day replaying over and over in her head. Sinbad frowned as he tried to hush her and calm her down. It had been a recurring nightmare she got often around the anniversary of his death. She never showed it but it played on her mind a lot. She always blamed herself for his death and no matter what Sinbad did, she still felt guilty.
