7) All these Lights and You

The boys didn't realise that the power had been cut .

"Oh no ! Not now" said Amy , disappointed because she wanted that kiss to happen .

Eric in sleepy voice- "Ellie , are you done ? If I keep my eyes closed for two more minutes , I swear I will fall asleep ."

Max slowly opened his eyes . He freaked out -
"What ? Oh lord what was my fault ? Why would you take away my vision ?"

Suddenly mom entered the room with a candle .

"What are you all doing ? You all should be heading home . There's a power cut I guess , I'm not sure . It may take an hour or so ." said mom .

Max with the expression of satisfaction- "Woahh ! I thought I've gone blind for a sec . Such a relief !"

They followed what mom said and left for their home . I walked them to the door to say goodbye .

Promptly Hannah appeared and  wrapped me in a tight hug .

"Ellie , Hiii ! How are you ? And why did you ask me to switch off the main switch ?" Hannah asked , puzzled .

Amy yelled at me "What ? What made you do that Ellie ?"

Drake interrupted "Kissing might not be a big deal to you Amy , but for someone else it might be . It's okay Ellie , we had fun today ."

Wow ! This was one of the most mature things Drake has ever said . This made me respect him even more .

"I'm sorry Amy . Hannah had messaged me that she will be joining us and at that moment I was asked to perform that stupid dare . So I got chance to escape it by asking Hannah for help . And so I asked her to switch off the lights to avoid that situation ."

"What ? Who was going to kiss whom ?" asked Hannah , surprised .

"Ask your best friend ." Amy said rudely and headed towards the door .

Everyone left including Hannah .

I was upset about so many things .It was a strange day .

As I turned to the door , I heard Drake shouting , "Hey Ellie , wait . I was wondering if you wanted to go for a drive . My parents will be late . Also , the electricity isn't working . So...?"

I knew there was no power cut . But something in me stopped me from telling him that .

"I'd love to ." I smiled .

Suddenly that strange day turned into a beautiful evening . We both drove towards the Central Park listening to my favourite songs .

It was definitely not a date , but a beginning of a new friendship .

The whole time , there was this single question running inside my mind - Why the hell couldn't he tell me the truth ?

But I wanted to enjoy that moment . It was such a beautiful evening . Even the streets which used to be flooded with people and traffic were empty . It all seemed so special . It was just me , Drake and those beautiful lights all around the streets .

We ended up reaching a cafe instead of the park .

"You changed our destination huh !" I said to Drake as he was texting someone .

"Yeah , umm ... you go ahead and save a seat , I'll just come back from the restroom ."

Before getting down of the car I noticed Drake had forgot to take his phone , so I took it with me .

It was a gorgeous place . The lighting's were excellent . They were blinding and crepuscular at the same time . Few were brilliantly golden; also, grandiloquent.

I was admiring the place when suddenly Drake's phone started to ring . It was wrong of me to attend the call on behalf of him . Unintentionally, I saw the screen and it was Hannah's call. It could be any Hannah on this planet . But I wasn't sure if it was my Hans or someone else .
