"You," they said in unison, not believing the situation they are in.
"Oh, Taehyung! You are here! Perfect!.." Taehyung's mother chirped at the arrival of her son, strangely oblivious of the surprised expression that was evident on both of the youngster's faces.
Her voice, which had become shrill with excitement, had succeeded in bringing the attention of Taehyung and the woman to the situation at hand.
"Oh don't just stand there and come sit! You too darling!" Said Mrs. Kim.
Both of them tore their eyes off of each other and took seats beside their respective mothers.
"Taehyung, meet Mrs. Kang she is a very good friend of mine." Said Mrs. Kim tilting her hand towards the said lady.
"Hello Mrs. Kang, It is a pleasure to meet you." Greeted Taehyung, as he tilted his head to a light bow-like gesture. His deep voice echoed through the room
"Oh no, the pleasure is all mine! Such a sweet young man." Said Mrs. Kang still keeping a smile on her face.
"Oh.. you are too kind! Isn't she Taehyung?" Mrs. Kim chirped.
"Yes, she is. Thank you for your kind words." He said least interested in the conversation but expertly kept the fact hidden.
Mrs. Kang just smiled and nodded.
Both the older ladies fell back to their own conversation. Reminiscing about old times and asking about each other's lives. All this while Taehyung and the unknown woman remained silent. They both obviously not wanting to have anything to do with this.
The ladies talked for a good fifteen minutes an ultimately.. the room fell silent. Awkwardness lingering in the air, because of the lack of topics to discuss until the real objective of the meeting was revealed.
Everyone in the room was feeling the uncomfortable awkwardness. But nobody seemed like they were going to break it.
So, as an alternative, Mrs. Kim took the initiative to stop beating around the bush and come to the real matter of discussion.
"So, me and Mrs. Kang have very important things to discuss privately. Taehyung, why don't you show the young lady the garden?" Mrs. Kim proposed.
"Yes, why don't you go with him, my love?" asked Mrs. Kang, receiving a glare from her daughter for doing so.
Taehyung furrowed his eyebrows and looked at his mother, who was giving him a closed-lip smile that wasn't really reaching her eyes. He knew what that expression meant,
'she wants me to obey her without any questions..' he thought agitated. She used to give him such looks at the party when he refused to talk happily with the guests at parties.
Taehyung mentally signed and looked at the lady sitting opposite to him, who seemed to be slightly uncomfortable.
"Fine." He said and looked at his mother, whose smile was now reaching her eyes.
"Okay" agreed the lady. The room had huge glass windows that reached from the floor to the roof. Beyond that was the very garden Mrs. Kim was talking about.
Taehyung got up and went over to the lady who had by now stood up. The extended his hands to the front, gesturing her towards the huge glass windows.
She nodded and started walking with Taehyung by her side. A button was pushed by a worker and the windows opened to lead to the extravagant garden.
Both of them passed the windows, stepping into the garden.
With flowers of all the different colours, it seemed as if it has just come out of a fairytale. birds chirped and butterflies of all sorts fluttered around equally beautiful flowers.
The lady was spellbound by its beauty and looked around in fascination as they walked, while Taehyung just looked ahead with a bored expression. He had been in this garden a few times and was by now used to it.
They came to a halt as they reached a huge cherry blossom tree which was in full bloom. The pink petals dancing in the air. They both had chosen to stop here unconsciously. The cherry blossom became the center of attention for both of them as they silently admired it for a few minutes.
Silence, not the good kind, but the awkward one began filling the air around them. The lady couldn't stand it and decided to speak. But before she could open her mouth...
"I guess both of us remember that day at the park four years ago." He said curtly.
"Hmm... It's weird though." She replied gladly.
"Yes it is we just conversed for only about a few minutes, yet we recognized each other almost immediately even after not seeing each other even once, in the four years that passed." He said in a monotonous voice.
"Well that is weird, but it's not what I was talking about."
"Huh?" Taehyung turned to her "what else is weird?".
"Well, it is after these four years that I know your name... Taehyung." She said meeting his eyes.
The way she said his name.. he felt a weird feeling in him...
"Yes... But there is still one thing" said Taehyung trying to hide his feelings.
"What is it?" She asked. Looking at him again.
"I still don't know your name." He said. It didn't go unnoticed by Taehyung that both the ladies didn't mention her name in front of him.
All they called her was 'love' what kind of spell has she put on his mother that she called her love he didn't know.
"My name.. " she heaved a sigh. It was as if she didn't want to say it.
"Okay I will tell you my name.. but don't judge okay?".
" Hmm fine" he replied. Why is she so skeptical about telling me her name?
"Okay.. my name is Sa rang. Kang Sa Rang." She said finally.
Taehyung was surprised.. he never anticipated her name to be Sarang.
"Sarang as in-"
"Yes Sa Rang as in love, " she cut him off.
