"Zane, are you ready? We're heading off to Nana's funeral in an hour!" Aphmau called out to her best friend from the living room of Zane's house.
Today was the day. The day Zane dreaded. The funeral of Nana Ashida.
He looked at himself in the mirror and sighed, there was no way he was ready for this emotionally, physically, yes, he was just waiting for Aph and Aaron to come pick him up.
Everyone had decided on wearing something pink for the funeral, Zane has decided on a bowtie, but since Nana was his girlfriend, he also tied his ponytail with a pink hairband.
"Almost done, Aph!" He called back, wiping a tear that had just formed.
He walked to the living room, looking over at Aphmau. Her pink item of choice was a hairbow while Aaron's was a bandana tied around his wrist.
"Honestly, I thought your mask would be pink," Aphmau laughed.
"I was going to wear a pink mask, but it didn't look right. In fact, the black doesn't look right either," He untied his mask and took it off, something he wished he'd done for Nana more often, "D-does my face look okay?"
Aphmau nodded, smiling, "Perfect!"
Zane smiled back, "Well, alright, let's get going," He put his mask on the coffee table, sighing.
They walked out and Zane locked the door behind him. The car ride seemed to relatively silent as they prepared themselves for the tough time ahead of them.
Zane didn't want to walk in the doors of the funeral home, but he knew he had to. When he did he was greeted with the faces of all his friends and some other people he didn't recognise, but they all looked like Nana. Nana's siblings.
She had eleven, well, ten now that Shuichi's dead. But only three came. Maybe the rest were just busy.
They all walked over to Zane and he all of a sudden became incredibly awkward.
"You're Nana's boyfriend right?" One asked, she seemed to be the oldest.
He nodded, rubbing his arm. He really didn't think he'd have to talk to them.
"Well... Thank you..." She smiled a little.
"F-for what?" He stuttered.
"For looking after her. She must've really loved you huh?" She laughed.
"I'd hope so"
"I'm Nico, this is Rokudo and Hachiko," She said, introducing herself and the other two meif'wa with her.
"Doesn't Nana have more siblings?" He asked.
Rokudo, the only male, nodded, "She does but we're the only three that get along with her. Apart from Ichi but he's you know... Dead"
"Jeez, even if you don't get along with her, you should at least come to her funeral," Hachiko sighed, "She's dead for crying out loud"
"She talked about you a lot," Rokudo laughed, "She called you Zane~Senpai when she was Kawaii~Chan. She was only Kawaii~Chan around us and Ichi. If she was Kawaii~Chan around the rest of our family, they would hit her..."
"That's awful..." He mumbled, "I wish I noticed I loved her sooner..."
"I think the service is starting now, mum and dad aren't here, mind if we sit with you and your friends?" Hachiko asked.
Zane nodded, "Of course, we're over here," He walked over to where the rest of his friends were.
They sat down and the service began.
