Saving Edward

Anna's POV

"Where'd you get this awesome car?" I ask Alice as we zoom through Italy's country side.

"I'm guessing you didn't rent this car" Bella adds.

"I figured, you both wouldn't be opposed to grand theft auto" Alice tells us.

"Not today" we tell her together. Soon Alice goes blank and blinks.

"They refused him" she states.

"So what's he going to do now?" I ask her.

"He's going to make a scene. Show himself to the humans" Alice explains.

"No!" Bella exclaims. "When?" she asks Alice.

"He's going to wait until noon, when the sun's at its highest" Alice explains.

"There's Volterra, floor it Alice" I tell them and Alice puts the peddle to the metal. When we arrive at Volterra we see everyone in red cloaks. "Why are they all in red?" I ask the others. Bella shrugs also looking confused.

"Saint Marcos Day festival. They're commemorating the expulsion of the vampires from the city. It's the perfect setting. The Volturi will never let him get far enough to reveal himself" Alice explains. Soon we're stopped and not allowed to go any further.

"You have to go alone Bella" I tell her.

"She's right" Alice agrees. "You're the only one he can't see coming. If either of us goes, he will read our thoughts. He'll think we're lying and rush into it" she explains.

"Where do I go?" Bella asks as she gets out of the car.

"He'll be under the clock tower. Go!" Alice shouts. Bella runs for it.

"Does she make it?" I ask Alice.

"Yes, but they'll need us. Stay close to me" she explains. I nod my head and we park the car. Then get out and she leads me to a side door of the clock tower. She breaks it open and we enter. "Come on guys! It's a festival! We wouldn't want to cause a scene, now would we?" she announces. I notice two red eye male vampires with Bella and Edward.

"We wouldn't" the tall one agrees.

"Enough" a young girl says. I look to see a small blonde hair female vampire. She couldn't of been more then thirteen in human years. "Alec sent me to see what was taking so long" she states.

"Just do as she says" Edward tells Bella and I. I nod my head and stay close to Alice. We head downstairs and along a corridor. Passing a human receptionist before going into an elevator. Bella holds Edward's arm as I stay glued to Alice's side.

When we exit the elevator we go to a large room with throne occupied thrones with vampire guards spotted around the room. I recognize the Volturi kings and grab Alice's arm. She gives me a reassuring smile.

"What a happy surprise! Bella is alive after all. Isn't that wonderful? I love a happy ending. They are so rare" Aro says approaching us. He takes Edward's hand from Bella's. "Her blood appeals to you so much, it makes me thirsty. How can you stand to be so close to her?" Aro asks him.

"It's not without difficulty" Edward tells him.

"Yes, I can see that" Aro states.

"Aro can read every thought I ever had. With one touch. And now you know everything. So, get on with it" Edward tells him.

"You are quite a soul reader yourself, Edward. Though you can't read Bella's thoughts. Fascinating" Aro says letting go of Edward's hand. "I'd like to see if you are an exception to my gift as well" he states holding a hand out to Bella. She places her hand in his.

"Interesting. I see nothing" he states letting go. "Anna, will you do me the honor?" he asks holding a hand out to me. I step forward letting go of Alice and place my hand in his. "Ahh" he says holding my hand close. "You are to be turned soon" he states.

"Yes, after I finish school. It was decided a few days ago" I state. I take my hand back and step back to Alice's side avoiding Bella's eyes.

"I wonder if... Let us see if Bella's immune to all our powers. Shall we, Jane?" Aro suggests.

"No" Edward states going to protect Bella.

"Pain" the young female vampire says. He falls to the ground in agony. Aro gets Jane to stop once Bella pleaded that they stop hurting Edward. Jane tried her ability on Bella and nothing happened. Aro laughs clapping his hands breaking Jane's concentration.

"Remarkable! She confounds us all. So, what we do with you now?" Aro muses looking at Bella.

"You already know what you're going to do, Aro" Marcus states.

"She knows to much and is a liability unlike her sister" Caius adds.

"That's true" Aro agrees. "Felix" he says and the tall vampire from before steps forward. Edward gets Bella behind him and charges the vampire. They start to fight as us girls are restrained. Felix goes to rip Edward's head off.

"Please! No, no! Please! Kill me, kill me. Not him" Bella begs. Aro gives Felix a signal to stop and Felix just restrains Edward.

"How extraordinary. You would give up your life for someone like us. A vampire. A soulless monster" Aro says in awe.

"Just get away from her" Edward tells him.

"You don't know a thing about his soul" Bella and I tell him together. "Or any of the others" I add.

"This is a sadness. If only it be your intention to give her immortality like you will Anna" Aro says. He goes to kill my sister. As she is let go.

"Wait!" Alice and I shout. Aro stops and looks at us. "Bella will be one of us, like Anna. I've seen it. I'll change her myself" Alice states. "Let me show you" she adds holding a hand out to Aro who takes it happily.

"Mesmerizing! To see, what you have seen. Before it is happened" Aro states. Alice and I are released and I hugged my sister. "Your gifts will make for an intriguing immortal. Annabella and  Isabella. Go now. Make your preparations" he tells us as Edward is released. We all leave the room quickly. Edward is safe and so is Bella. Hopefully we never see the Volturi again, as humans anyway.
