Pushed, forced, shoved
Bend into submission
An opinion meant disgrace
An argument meant punishment
Scorn, wrath, bruises
Living mindlessly
No understanding of anything
Moving forcibly
Every step and word
Coated by fear
Bent, broken, bleeding
Internally
Disobedience meant a beating
Speaking up meant locked away
And protecting siblings was seen as rebellion
Rebelling meant breaking
Suppressed back into obedience
Dare a subject stand against their mother
Backs bent in fear
Eyes dry from running out of tears
Bodies numbly bruised
The stinging sensation no longer felt
As familiarity overcame the pain
All that matters any longer
Is survival
