Chapter 9-All But Death

A new day...

Ori had almost spent a week with their group of friends.At some points,it felt like a nice journey,but at other points,it felt terrible.Ori missed their home,their mom,their technical father.It was relatively quiet in the dorm today.It was raining and Ori was sitting on the windowsill."Austin had to transfer after an incident in science class.Violet just texted me to let you so you won't be confused."Sam said.The voice startled Ori.The spirit soon realised what she said.Ori felt sad and Sam could tell.The school intercom came on.

"Attention students!There seems to be something wrong with the furnace,but it will be repaired on short notice.If you see any steam or air anywhere unusual,be sure to tell any staff nearby!"

"That furnace has been acting weird for about two weeks now.I think it may be broken."Sam said.Ori thought of the lava in Mount Horu.It didn't bring many happy memories."There aren't any classes assigned for today,so I'll get everyone together so we can hang out."Sam said as she grabbed her phone from off of her desk.Ori was hungry again.It was about time to get some food again.The spirit showed their hunger to Sam,who eventually figured out what they wanted.It was about 10 in the morning,so breakfast was still being served."Ori,there's this breakfast cart going around the school alright?Once it gets here,we can get some food."Sam said as she rubbed Ori's head.Around 15 minutes later,the cart came and the two got their breakfast.Sam was relatively happy for the most part,but she let out a sad sigh.Ori snuggled up against her."I'm sorry Ori..."Sam said.The spirit didn't know what she was talking about."This situation,it'll get better,I swear."She continued as her hand went down Ori's back.A knock was heard at the door.Sam didn't expect anyone.Sam went to open the door and upon doing so,something above the door began to fall.Ori noticed quickly and ran past her,jumping,and bashing the object away.It was a stack of heavy books."Ori!You just saved me...but it seems that someone's out to get us..or even worse,you."Sam said.Ori saw someone turn the corner at the last second.The spirit figured that it was Zach.Ori let out a sound and Sam figured that they wanted something.The spirit pointed down the hallway."You want to to after that person?I'm with you,let's go."Sam said.Ori led the way and Sam followed.It was only a matter of time until they reached the end of the hall.Zach was standing around the corner.Sam looked at him in a mad way."What's the big idea Zach?!You made that trap for me didn't you?"Sam said.Zach let out a chuckle."Not for you exactly."he replied.Ori knew.They crossed their arms.Sam was upset."Why are you doing this?"Sam asked.He didn't reply at first."You will figure it out sooner or later."Zach said as he started to walk away."Ori,you're in danger.He's got it out for you,do you understand?"Sam asked.Ori nodded their head.The spirit was right!Zach was after them this entire time.Ori had to stay alert,or they'd end up dead.

Meanwhile...

It was quiet at Louis and Nathan's house.Louis was pretty upset.Violet was over at the time and they were talking about the situation."Louis...I don't know why he's with Zach.I have a feeling that it has to deal with Ori.If he wasn't here,how would things be different?"Vi asked.Louis was laying in his bed."I dunno.I still can't acknowledge the fact that he's the one that found Ori in the first place."He said.Violet sighed."I hate this Lou.It's so annoying."Vi said.Nathan walked into the room."Hey guys..."he said.Violet wasn't happy to see him."Why are you with Zach Nathan?"She asked."That's what I came in here to talk about.I know everyone is upset,but I have a way to fix this."Nathan said.Louis and Violet sighed."Alright tell us."Vi said."Zach's been setting traps to try and catch Ori.I'm supposed to help him,but I plan to sabotage."Nathan said."Sounds like a good idea.We should go let Sam know."Violet said.

Back with Sam and Ori...

It was around 12:30 now.Sam and Ori were wondering the school."Where is everyone?"Sam said.There was a field trip poster on the wall.It said that there was a trip scheduled today."No wonder there's no classes,but where's the staff?"Sam asked herself.A few minutes later,she got a text from Nathan.

"Coming up to the school with Vi and Lou.There's traps around,but I'm sure you know by now if you left your room..."

"Yeah,We figured it out.Ori saved me though.Why is Zach doing this?"

"Nevermind that!Just be careful okay?He has something planned,but I don't know what it is."

"Alright...see you in a bit."

Sam put her phone back in her pocket.Ori was waiting for her.It was quiet for a while,but the two made their way to the entrance to let their friends in.The group headed back to Sam's dorm.The three explained the plan to Sam and Ori."So Nathan,when are you setting the traps?"Sam asked.He didn't reply at first."Soon I guess.I'm telling you guys,I'll make this right."Nathan said.His phone vibrated.It was a text from Zach.He told him to meet him in the cafe."Alright guys,see ya later."Nathan said as he left the room.It was quiet for a while."I don't want to sit around and do nothing.I'm going out to investigate."Vi said."Well,I'll go too!"Louis said as the two rushed out the door.Sam got up slowly from her bed."I would like to go look around as well.Will you be okay Ori?"Sam asked.Ori nodded their head,giving her a yes.Sam gave Ori a quick hug and left the room.The spirit wanted to investigate too.Going off on their own,Ori had to be careful.It was very quiet until Ori heard a slight beeping sound.It was only than when the noise got very loud.It was a trap.A mechanical spider like machine dropped from the ceiling and almost landed on Ori.The spirit rolled backwards and looked at it.The spider started to sprint at Ori.As a first instinct,Ori jumped over it and started to run.The beeping was still there for some reason.Ori stopped and used Bash on it,but it didn't work.Getting some air by jumping off a nearby wall,Ori used Stomp and crushed the entire spider.The beeping also stopped.Minuyes later,Zach had appeared at the end of the hallway."I've got you right where I want you."Zach said as a large cracking sound was heard around them.Something was burning,badly.Soon the walls were on fire.That was his plan,to burn down the school.Things were falling apart around Ori.Where were the others?Did they know what was going on?Nathan appeared down a smoky hallway."Ori!He's messed with the furnace!It's gonna explode,so you gotta get outta here!"He said as something fell next to him.He turned and ran away.Zach rushed at Ori with a blade,his goal was to kill.The spirit took a swifty dodge and went down a hallway.As they ran,the science room doors flew open for some reason.Ori saw some type of tank in the room.The fire was around the entire building at this point and when it reached the tank,it exploded.The knock back was so strong that it sent Ori flying down a completely different hall.It was too smokey to see the signs to find the exit.That explosion hurt them.It dealt 3 life cells of damage.7 remained.It was only a matter of time until Ori reached a dead end.There was classrooms on both sides of the hall,so the spirit chose to enter the one on the right."Your light's gonna get you killed!"Zach yelled.Ori jumped over a couple of desks.There was a sliding door that lead outside onto a balcony,but it was about 3 stories high.Outside,there was many flashing lights.The fire department was there.There was police too,and even the students who went on the field trip had came back.It was...very unfortunate.A fireman spotted Zach and the crew set up a trampoline.Ori saw it,but it would be risky.The spirit had a plan.Get rid of the weapon,than save him.Ori stomped,making Zach drop his weapon and lose his balance.Than the spirit jumped and bashed off of him.They sent him in the direction of the trampoline,making him fall.Ori was sent in the opposite direction.It was a sacrifice.As Zach hit the trampoline below,Nathan and the others went over to him.Ori on the other hand,had a blocked path.Debree had fell from the roof and there was only one more escape,the other class.The spirit turned around and ran for the other room.The window wasn't open,but by time Ori could manage to get it open,the furnace exploded,blowing up the entire building.Everyone outside was evacuated to a safe point by the authorities.Nathan confronted Zach."What was that man?!"He yelled as he pushed him."I did what I had to do."Zach replied."Blowing up the school trying to kill something isn't the right choice!"Violet yelled as Sam held onto her."Ori's dead because of you!"Sam said."Zach smiled."Ori died in vain."He said.Everyone became silent.Eric came running over."What in trigonometry happened here?!"He said."This idiot here blew up the place."Vi said.She wanted to release her rage.Eric sighed."Where's Ori?"He asked."He's dead...he saved Zach though."Louis said as tears went down his face.Sam let Violet go,and she ran toward Zach.She punched him in the face,sending him to the ground faster than a falling stone.She punched him so hard that there was blood."I hope the worst comes to you,Zach Ten."Violet said as everyone walked away.
