Chapter 4

"Ace -" were cut off by me to the because of my legs. It got his ass to stop whatever he was going to do. "What the fuck?" "Can you just help me up Ace? I asked to at least get him to calm down a little bit.

"What's wrong with yo legs?" I ignored him as he helped me up. I heard the faint sounds of a door opening and footsteps coming to my door. I gasped.

I hadn't even told Ace that my parents left me here with a complete stranger. I look at him.

"You have to go Ace." He looked confused.

"Why? Who is that?" He questioned

"It's my daddy and you not even suppose to be here. Go, I'll explain tomorrow." I tried to lie the best I could and only hope that he believed what I was saying. I'm a horrible liar.

He sat for a second and just looked at me, but I could hear the footsteps getting closer. I started to panic. "Please. I promise to explain tomorrow at school Ace."

"Pinkie promise."

I held out my pinkie even though I know he doesn't like to do those because he thinks they're childish but I loved them so he put up with it. He sighed and rolled his eyes but did it anyway.

"Pinkie promise."

Then he started to walk towards my balcony doors but as he turned the knob I called to him.

"Ace." He turned so only half of his face was looking to me.

"Yea."

"I Love You."

"I Love You Too Anya."

Then he was gone. Down to the ground and gone down the street.

Just as my door opened and Derrick came storming in yelling about how loud I was and how he should teach me to be quiet. Luckily he didn't.

I just stayed quiet. I guess I had learned my lesson on talking back to him.

When he left, I was too scared to sleep so I stayed up until it was time for me to get dressed for school. I took some of my mom pills to dull the pain enough for me to get through the day. I decided to take them with me just in case I needed more.

I'm so tired. I wish I could go to sleep.

It felt nice to know Ace would come and see me if I needed him. I guess the same with Jaylen, but Jay and I tell each other that we love each other all the time so it wouldn't be unusual for me to text him that late in the night. Tamyra and I don't talk as much as we use to. I don't know why that is, maybe she got tired of being in the group.

Jay, Ace, and I have been friends since kindergarten while Tamyra and I have known each other since last year. She always thought my relationship with Jaylen, and Ace was weird because she believes that you cant be friends with a guy without dating them. I think otherwise.

Derrick had taken my car somewhere so getting out was easier than I thought it would be. I would be terrified if I came in contact with him this morning. The pills seemed to be working and my walk to school gradually got better. I felt my phone start to vibrate in my pocket.

I answer it because it's Jaylen. "Hey Jay." My voice sounding hoarse, I held the phone away from my face to clear my throat.

"Where you at? A nigga over here goin' crazy trying to look for you."

"What? Why, Whats wrong?" I questioned. I heard shuffling in the background then I suddenly heard a very aggravated Ace.

"Where the fuck did you go?"

"Ace I'm just walking to school. Calm down." I should have known that he would try to pick me up today. He didn't say he would but that's just how he is.

"Don't fuck wit me, Anya, you know damn well I was gone come and get you today. What street are you on?"

"Philipson Street." I mumbled hoping he didn't hear me. Philipson is part of the dangerous side of the city that Ace told me to stay away from but I walk this way from time to time. It's a faster way to school and I only walk this way when it's day time.

I heard him give a frustrated sigh. "You really pissin' me off this morning. Why did you think I would let you walk after last night? Then you fuckin walk the one way I specifically tell you not to Anya. Why didn't you drive? Nevermind, don't move talk to Jay I'm on my way."

"Ace -" He cut me off.

"Bye Anya."

I could hear him giving Jaylen his phone back. "Damn what you do Nya? You got this nigga all mad and shit." I sighed. I didn't mean to make him mad. I don't need this shit right now anyway. I just didn't want to be in that house.

"I didn't mean to. Tell him to stop speeding and that I'm -" I didn't get to finish my sentence because of me gasping. Someone had put their hand on my shoulder.

Twirling around I sigh in relief when I see that it's just Tamyra. I can hear Jaylen asking if I was alright but I didn't really pay attention. I haven't talked to Tamyra in a week, and I want to know where she's been.

"Hey boo." That's all she has to say to me?

"Hi." was my response.

"Why you over here?"

"I was going to ask you the same thing. Where have you been all week?" She disappears for a week and all she has to say is 'hey boo'?

"I had things to do, and I've been busy." She wouldn't look me in the eyes. Wow.

I could now hear Ace's voice coming through my phone. I just put the phone down and he's acting like he's been trying to get me for five minutes. I put my phone back to my ear while staring at Tamyra.

"Ace calm down I'm good." I told him cutting him off from continuously calling my name.

"Don't tell me to chill out. Who you talkin to?" I can hear his car speeding up.

"Slow down before you get pulled over. You're speeding for nothing, it's just Tamyra."

"You good though right?" I heard an engine down the street, and I looked to see it was Ace.

"I'm fine. You're right here anyway, I'll see you later Tamyra." I said walking passed her and towards Ace's car and hanging up the phone but what she said stopped me.

"I guess ya Lil boyfriends are here to get you then huh." Making me turn to her.

"What?" I said just as Ace's car pulled up.
