I don't like playing soccer- especially with my jerk cousin and his equally if-not-more jerk friends.   Rather than a teammate; I was treated like a ball catcher and water boy. The only reason I came was because my uncle thought it would be best for me to hang out with kids my age, which would be a good idea- except for the fact that my cousin Jisung and his friends are a whole year ahead of me, and while I didn't think it was a huge age gap, apparently my 'hyungs' thought otherwise.

I sat with my back against the bark of a tree. I was bored and picking stands of grass from the ground. From a distance, I could hear Jisung and his friends playing soccer. They were yelling at each other to pass the ball to make a score, or whatever you do in soccer.

"WATCH OUT!" I looked up to see a ball flying right towards me. I reacted quickly and covered my face with my arms. I saved my face but the ball hit my bare arms so hard that it left them red and made my eyes water.

"I'm sorry!" One of Jisung friends called out to me, I'm guessing he's the one who was responsible for hitting me. I stood up and picked up the ball, rubbing the tears out of my eyes.

"Are you crying?! there's no crying in soccer you wuss!" Jisung stuck his tongue out at me mockingly and then laughed with his friends. "Give us our ball back, water boy!"

I've had enough of his bullying. He was only mean to me when his friends were around, but when it was just the two of us he actually treated me nice and like a cousin, but thats probably because his dad is around..

"Why don't you go get your own stinking ball!" I set the ball down in front of me and kicked it so hard that it went flying over everyone's heads and went far away. I was shocked by my kick, and while everyone was distracted, I ran away to the library. I know I'll get yelled at later by Jisung..

...

"This is where you come during summer break?" I looked up from my book. Jisung's friend was in front of me; the one who hit me with a ball.

"Did Jisung and all his friends come to beat me up?" I asked nervously.

"No, they're all still looking for the ball."

"Why aren't you?"

"Because that's boring"

"And sitting in a library isn't?"

"To you, it isn't"

"Well, I'm a boring kid," I said gloomily and looked back down at my book. I heard a chair next to me being dragged and Jisung's friend was now sitting next to me. From the corners of my eyes, I could see him staring at my arms. They were still red where the ball hit me. I unconsciously put them under the table.

"Why are you hiding them? do they hurt that bad?"

"No, they don't hurt. B-By the way, I wasn't crying back there. I just have allergies"

"It's okay to cry"

"I wasn't crying!"

"Okay, you weren't crying. But if you were, then there's nothing wrong with that" I huffed out a breath of air from frustration.

"Why are you even here?"

"The way you kicked that ball over our heads was so cool, I wanna be your friend"

"F-Friend?" I looked at him with wide eyes. I've been in this town for a whole year and still haven't been able to make a single friend. Partially due to Jisung constantly bossing me around, but mostly because I was an anti-social kid who spent most days here in this library at this table.

"Yes, I'm Yeonjun by the way"

"I'm Soobin"

"Okay, so we're friends now!" He smiled so wide that his eyes closed
