Chapter 5
After lunch I was pretty much baffled and out of it for the whole day. I couldn't stop wondering what I did or if she really was still mad at me... IT'S FRUSTRATING!
After the last bell rang, me and Tony met up with Brianna and Jessica at the front of the school. Jessica ignored me again and was talking to Brianna the whole time. I was more than a little annoyed now.
"I'm coming over to your house today" I said to Tony.
"Ha, I knew you were going to explode at one point"
I gave him an unamused face.
When we dropped Brianna off at her house, Tony made sure he got a chance to say goodbye. His speaking was a little better than it was the other times he spoke to her. Even when Brianna was gone now and we were heading to Tony's house, Jessica would keep walking ahead of us and wouldn't talk to me. She would only turn around once in a while to tell Tony something. JUST TONY! Yep...I was done.
We made it to their house in 3 or 4 minutes, I could see a car in the driveway and guessed that Mr. Waters was home. Jessica opened the front door and went inside, me and Tony followed.
It was time!
Before Jessica could go upstairs and lock herself in her room, I tackled her to the floor and started tickling her.
"HAHAHAHAH!!! S...Stop!!" She yelled dying of laughter.
"Say you're done ignoring me!" She shook her head, so I started tickling her more.
"T...TO...TONY HELP!!" She said trying to wiggle away from me.
Tony put his arms up in a surrendering way. "Sorry. You're on your own on this" He said and started heading up the stairs.
I stop tickling her for a second and grab her arms and pin them over her head, so she doesn't escape.
"Surrender yet? You have no allies to help you" I said, smugly.
"O..Okay. I surrender" She said out of breath. I let go of her arms.
"Good! Now stop igno...Ugh!"
She punched me in the side, making me fall off her. While I was down, she got up and ran up to her room. I could hear her close it and probably lock the door.
I sighed, as I lay on the carpet. I should've seen that coming.
"Need a hand there Amber?" I heard a chuckling voice.
"Yes, please Mr. Waters" I grabbed his outstretched hand and stood up. "Thank you"
"Haha, I see my daughter is still giving you trouble" He chuckled, with a big grin.
"You have no idea"
"Are you staying for dinner? Ann went to get some groceries, but will be back in a bit"
"Yeah, Mr. Waters I'm going to stay for a while"
"Hey! The name is Patrick, as long as you're dating my..."
Here we go again.
"Sir, I'm not dating Tony" He looked at me confused.
"I know you're not. I was going to say my daughter. HAAHA, You and Tony? That's funny, it's obvious that you like..." I quickly covered his mouth when I saw Jessica coming down the stairs.
"What are you doing?" She asked confused.
"N...Nothing, I was just...Helping your dad not swallow a fly?" I said, as I slowly uncovered my hand from his mouth.
"Sure" She said, probably not buying it and went into the kitchen. When I know she is out of hearing range I start to talk to Mr. Waters again.
"Please sir, can you keep it a secret? She doesn't know I like her" I ask in a whisper.
"She doesn't?"
It was my turn to give him a confused look. The front door opened, and Mrs. Waters walked in with some groceries.
"Tony!! Jessie!!! I need some help with the bags!" Mrs. Waters yells.
I walk over to her.
"Need a hand Ann?" I say as I grab a few bags.
"Thank you so much Amber dear!" She said with a big smile.
Tony and Jessica also came seconds later to help with the groceries. There were still some in the car too, so we got all of those as well. When all the groceries were in the kitchen, me, Tony, and Jessica put them away while Mrs. Waters went to her room to change. My experience of coming over so many times as a kid, helps me put away things pretty quickly. Tony and Jessica are also done soon, just in time as Mrs. Waters comes into the kitchen.
"Thank you! Now I just have to get dinner started, Amber are you staying for dinner?"
"Yes ma'am" I say with a smile.
"Lovely! I'll make your favorite! Patrick! Time to make dinner!"
I laugh a little. Mrs. Waters is a great lady, but she can't really cook anything other than cereal. Mr. Waters is always the cook, which makes sense since he is a chief and owns a little restaurant downtown. It's the best place to go to when you want REALLY good food, and lucky for me that I get his cooking for free most of the time.
"Okay! What are we making?" Mr. Waters asks as he walks into the kitchen.
"Make Amber's favorite since we haven't seen her all summer" Mrs. Waters says as she walks out of the kitchen.
"Ha, I bet you really missed it since I wasn't the one cooking at the restaurant" He says as he starts to pull up his sleeves.
"Yes sir! Me and my dad usually eat take out for dinner since my mom has been really busy this summer"
"Well it's your lucky day. Now get out of my kitchen!" He says with a smile.
I leave and let the master work.
"Hey Amber!"
I look up to Tony on the steps.
"Yeah?"
"I need some help with this Pre-Calc homework"
"Tony...We don't have homework for Pre-Calc" I say confused.
"Yes we do. Practice problems 1-10 on pg. 16. Were you not paying attention?" He asked me like I was dumb.
The teacher must have assigned it when I was spacing out.
"Okay I'm coming, but you might be the one helping me for a bit" I let him know as I head up the stairs to meet my mathematical doom.
