"So, tell me more about vampires and stuff." I said as I watched a stream bubble by. A day has passed-Theo and Elise left me alone for the most part. I was still coming to terms that these things existed, but it was becoming easier every minute.
"What kind of stuff?" Theo asked as he stripped a fallen branch of its leaves.
"I dunno." I burst put laughing, to Theo's great amusement.
"What's so funny?"
"I dunno. See? That's how much I know. I don't know what to want to know about!" I giggled.
Theo smiled. "You have a strange sense of humor, you know."
I sobered instantly. "I didn't know. Is it the same kind of strangeness as that quirky mouth texting thing I do?"
Theo burst out laughing. "Yeah. I guess you could call it that, but it doesn't matter. I like it, it's totally you."
"Thanks." I punch his shoulder.
"What was that for?" Theo rubbed the place I punched him.
"Are you saying that hurt? A vampire can be hurt by a human?"
Theo frowned.
"You aren't human. You're an amority. Actually, you're a mixture of an amority and a demon."
"I know."
Theo's eyes widened. "What? How?"
"Remember the night you found me running away?"
He nodded.
"I had a-vision of sorts. In it, I think I saw my birth mother and father. They were fighting - that tells me what my life would be like if they lived. At least, I know my mother, Tamara-that's her name, died. Some guy named Trent did it. He said he was a vampire as well, maybe you know hi-hey, are you okay?"
Theo squeezed his eyes shut and seemed paler than usual.
"Yeah. Just a dizzy spell. That happens sometimes when I'm in the sun. It takes more magic to conceal the burns."
"Burns? We should get you out of the sun then!" I tugged on his arm and we stumbled back beneath the shadows of the forest.
"That's a bit better, thanks." Theo sighed as he sat down.
"No problem. Now, where was I? Oh yeah, they'd probably be divorced by now-which is funny because it would have happened because of me. Anyways, Tamara's like, no! You can't kill my baby, and this shadowy looking guy's like, But baby! She's killing you! But Tamara wouldn't listen to reason, nope. So she does some magical wind thingie and the sene change-"
Theo started poking my face. "Does this thing have a fast forward button?"
I snap at his finger, missing it by a few centimeters. "Not at all, but it has a super slow motion button, so I have to go even slower."
"Please don't! Just cut to the chase!"
"Fine." I stuck out my lower lip and scowl at him. "The shadowy guy basically said that a child born of an amority and a demon would destroy earth..."
My eyes widen as I realize what I just said. "Oh my gosh-I'm not going to destroy here, am I?"
I stood up and stared at Theo. "Well, am I?"
"I'm not sure, but there's no reason to freak out-the UNSC wants Elise and me to take you back to the Etherworld-that's the name of the world where we live-and then you're family will be safe."
"Safe? Do you mean Peggy and Andrew and Laurel and Henry?"
"Yes. They'll be safe."
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!" I started marching away.
