Song for this chapter: Yesterday, The Beatles. You've been warned.
Also, there will be a scene of mature content. If you would rather skip it, not that there's anything too graphic or anything, (and it probably sucks anyway), there will be a notice right before, kay? (See I'm so bloody considerate)
Aurora blinked a few times and muttered something about how uncomfortable Fire-teleport was, then smiled dazzlingly at Edward. She gestured vaguely towards Imeda, who promptly rose to his feet, and then asked Edward in a nonchalant tone, as if commenting on the weather, “So, what's going on?”
Edward sighed exasperatedly. “If you had arrived maybe ten minutes earlier, you'd have gotten it.”
Ian knew his mouth was agape, but he was too stunned to care. She was beautiful, but she didn't seem to realise it. What she did know, though, was that she was powerful. She knew it, and flaunted it. Her eyes blazed with the knowledge, and her hands were quick and ready to attack. Her slight frame was poised to pounce, and it seemed to Ian that even the individual strands of hair that framed her face were brimming with energy to fight. Ian's eyes flitted to the ShadoWalkeR, and a bubble of laughter threatened to burst out of his conveniently open mouth. Sara's eyebrows were scrunched with confusion, her mouth slightly ajar, her green eyes growing darker with frustration and anger, until she burst out and said, “Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on here?”
By this time, Edward had briefed her on the situation, and now, Aurora turned around, facing Sara, and said, with a voice that rang of authority, “I, Aurora of the Warlocks, and my esteemed colleague, Edward Murray of the Council of Light, hereby decline your offer, and declare war between us and the Darkness, and all its allies.”
Lucas, who was standing closest to Edward, caught him mumbling something about how the warlocks always steal the damn show before a roar rose from the assembled enemy, and Sara ShadoWalkeR straightened up, mouth tightening into a thin line. “I accept the declination, Aurora. And all I can say is, let the shit-storm begin.” She bowed mockingly, and when she raised her face, her eyes shone maliciously. “May the best woman win,” she said.
And just like that, she vanished, along with all the assembled Darklings. Aurora bounced slightly on her heels, clearly satisfied, and said in a bright voice, “Well, that's settled.”
“Rory, I had it all under hand!” Edward protested a bit feebly. Aurora quelled any further reproach with a glare, then turned around and began walking. As she passed by Ian and Lucas, she froze. She glanced at Ian, and shook her head. She turned to look at Lucas, and her eyes narrowed. “Edward, I need to talk to you. Meet me at your office.” She disappeared in a blaze of fire, leaving behind several people blinking rapidly and cursing warlocks in general, hastily glancing at Imeda to see if he was listening. Edward sighed and began trudging back towards the Academy. Ian distinctly heard Ed's daughter Julie chant “Whipped!” to her girlfriend, Tori, and both of them burst into cackles of laughter as Edward shot them a look that would have made a direwolf piss his pants.
Ian moved closer to Lucas and asked, “What was that all about?”
Lucas raised an eyebrow and said, “Which part? The part where Ed was quailing in his boots, the part where he turned bad-ass, or the part where the Head of Warlocks herself appeared and kicked some ass?”
Ian smiled, but Aurora's knowing look after glancing at Lucas was worrying him. “Oh, must be the last part,” he said jokingly, hiding his worry and linking his arm through Lucas' as they joined the mass of students heading back to the Academy.
Meanwhile, Ed had reached his office to find Aurora pacing, her black hair swishing furiously from side to side, her purple eyes fixed to the floor. She looked up when Edward walked in, her eyebrows almost joined in the middle from all the frowning. Her voice when she spoke crackled like angry flames.
