Aaron's POV
When we sat down in her office I immediately looked around trying to decipher what kind of worker she was along with trying to keep my mind off some very... enticing things that involve that big desk.
It was clean and neat with the exception of the piles of paperwork on her desk. There were two, and I'm assuming they'll take a while to do. Other than that there were pictures of pine trees and family on the walls. On her desk was one picture framed in silver with trees etches in. I couldn't see this picture because it was angled toward her more and there was a glare, but I'm assuming it's special.
We sat there and she looked through some papers. Sam decided to cut in, "So my brother will be your tribe's alpha then?"
Her gorgeous eyes didn't look up from the paper she was reading, "He will be the Male Chief and my only equal in hierarchy."
My attention drifted to the way the window behind the desk framed her.It illuminated her silver hair that framed her face. Her icy deep eyes seemed to almost glow in contrast to the half frozen lake behind her.
That lovely background just made me want to look into her seemingly all seeing eyes.
She had me already around her thumb. I just hope she's just as wrapped around me.
It wasn't very long before the woman from one of her pictures stepped in and hugged me, "Oh my new son!"
Throwing caution to the wind I hugged her back, "Oh my new not so evil mother in law!"
Her deep seated laugh filled the room along with chuckles from some of the other occupants of the room.
Aeriella's POV
It felt so freaking good to be home with my mate in my territory. Good to know that I can easily protect and have him protected at a moment's notice without any problems, after all the heart of the Arctic Dragon Territory is the safest place in the world.
My pride spiked with this realization and I stood straighter as I led them to my office.
When we entered I smirked knowing it was intimidating as I sat behind my desk with the window behind me. I had purposely laid out the room around me so it would.
I waited until they were seated and picked up a report on top of the urgent pile. Frowning I began reading: our finances were down and the small area for tourism was being drug through the dirt.
Frustrated I was about to make a call when something on it caught my eye. I continued reading as they began speaking. I immediately answered the question not long before my mother barged in. How many times do I have to tell her to knock and to closed the damned door?!
I scowled before smiling at his reaction to her. They'd get along well. Mom laughed and released him before examining the other two. She pointed to Sam, "Mated," then to John, "Unmated."
Sam remained passive while John feigned shock, "How'd you know?!"
She winked, "Mother knows all."
"You're scents." I mumbled as I rolled my eyes.
Mom pouted, "You're no fun since your dad died."
I stiffened at the mention of my father. He was the greatest Chief in the history of Chiefs, my best friend, guardian to everyone, and lastly died way too young. Mom knows his passing is a sore spot and was testing me.
I didn't pass.
My hands gripped the desk tightly while I felt my eyes shift as an onslaught of emotions, mainly grief anger and sadness, trampled my heart.
A strong arm wrapped itself around me pulling me against a warm wall instantly helping to squelch my turmoil. I leaned into Aaron relaxing my grip for a millisecond before my five other siblings came bounding in.
Shaaron, the eldest of my siblings, eyed him, "Ooo nice, too bad he's furry."
I leveled her with a glare as my mate's arms tightened around me. Leaning slightly into him I took a few lungfulls of his scent. His thumb began tracing circles on my belly causing me to involuntarily relax.
My eyes began to droop half closed until James cleared his throat. I jolted back into reality before speaking, "Aaron this is all of my younger siblings and my mother," I looked to him then his brother and Beta, "Aaron's my mate, his brother Sam is the taller one and the other is John the Beta."
They all introduced themselves but through it all my male kept an arm loosely around me. I could feel their eyes on my left hand but only mom looked to my unmarked neck. She rose an eyebrow but didn't question it. Instead she grinned, "Well I'll make dinner and James can show these two," she gestured to the other wolves, "to the rooms they may use."
As she left she winked at me. I rolled my eyes and waited for them to leave before turning and looking up at Aaron, "I'll show you to yours."
"You mean ours."
I blinked and he nuzzled my neck causing me to purr, "I don't want to be separated from you at night Aeriella."
The way my name sounded with his voice was almost unbearable making me weak, "Yes."
"Yes what my love?"
Instead of answering I threw my arms around him to control myself, "Yes we can share a room... but don't make me regret it."
