It took a few minutes to process everything that had just occurred, first I had embraced my wild side. In other words I became the animal in a way no one else could. Then I realized I had more power that I need to figure out and control. I even had to figure out a way to keep that power in my hands only, I couldn't let myself be used by anyone not even my own dad. The snow started to fall thicker, I had to fight off the urge to fly off as a bird.
Jessica coughed and said "You will never be the animal Victor and I are." I turned to look at her and she gasped, "Oh I know I wont. I not scared of water." I said to her with a grin. "Um your eyes, whats up with them?" Wade asked. I turned and said "They grew darker, that's normal. How; I embraced the side no human or mutant can ever touch with out be locked in an insane asylum." "They do remind me of an animal." Victor smiled.
I smiled and said "My eyes were much lighter just hours ago when I feared the gift I had been given, and trust me when I say this, I was always wild and will stay that way, there's not a chain in the world that keep me from the wild." A cold winter wind blew into the room, I took a deep breath, said "I've waited to do this again for months now." Chieann and myself jumped out of building. Chieann landed at a sprint and I felt large wings sprout from my back, I couldn't unfold them completely so I opened them just enough to lift myself up above the trees. When I looked down I saw the others on the roof of the building, I smiled, collapsed my wings and fell toward the them.
Just above them I stretched my wings to full length, a fifty foot wing span, that was awesome. I heard some of them gasp as I rose from higher and higher into the air. I flew for hours on end, coasting across long island, and enjoying the wind ruffling my black feathers. I finally decided to head back just before dawn. My vision stretched on for miles, and I saw Victor, Logan, Jessica, and one other man standing on the roof waiting for me.
I flew right above them until light touched the roof, Victor pointed at me as I aimed my self downward and folded my wings to my back. The air rushed around me as I fell from the sky, the other man watched me closely, I found him creepy, so when I landed I shifted back to human, stood there ready to shift, and get out of there. The only movement I made was to breath, I didn't even blink. Him on the other hand, he walked towards me and I instinctively backed away from him till I was balanced on the edge of the building. Logan then spoke up "Leave her alone Stryker, she just woke up and was nearly killed, we should let her calm down."
Even Victor agreed with him, and I didn't even think that was very common. Stryker watched me for a moment, then sighed and said "We have a mission tomorrow so be ready." walked to the roof access door, and disappeared behind it. "Come on, lets get your room set up." Logan sighed. I nodded and said "Where exactly are we going?"
Jessica laughed "The cabin of course." I rolled my eyes, and dropped off the side of the building, instead of walking with them. I ran beside them while they rode bikes. When we arrived at the cabin, I shifted back to human and fallowed them into the cabin. "If your Jimmy's daughter why can you shape shift and not have the claws that he does?" Victor questioned me. I looked at him like he was stupid then remembered they didn't know about my mom.
I smiled innocently and said "When did I say I didn't have his same power?" I walked to the window and stared outside, I sighed quietly hoping they didn't notice. I wanted to be free, now that I knew how it felt, I loved it, and letting it go was going to be an issue. I then remembered that I had my running gear. I turned around quickly, said "I'm going for a run", opened the door, walked over to Logan's bike; don't ask how or when he got it because I don't know. I didn't expect it but the bike with my bag was it a garage, I slid my tank top off, and changed into my running shorts and running shoes, then folded my clothes and placed them in the bag.
I heard the door open, footsteps, and other voices, the entire team was here. "It's just barley dawn now." I whispered to myself. I took a breath of the fresh morning air, and waited, "She said she was going for a run?" an irritated voice questioned. I stepped out of the garage and looked around, the thickest part of the forest was on the other side of the clearing, past the cabin. I didn't want to run alone, so I took a breath and howled.
A moment later the undergrowth rustled, and Chieann walked out and looked at the forest we were going to run through. I smiled at her, and she looked up at me, we both tensed and took off into the forest. Behind us I heard the shocked gasped and someone walked over to the place we took off from, I didn't realize that we had made holes in the ground when we pushed into a dead sprint. The run was amazing, I felt so free, especially with Chieann running by my side, we ran for I think two hours without stop. I only stopped when I caught the sent of a familiar plant, catnip.
I smiled and said, "I wonder, Chieann, if Victor and Jessica are saber tooth tigers, and saber tooth tigers are a breed of cat, are they attracted to catnip too?" She looked at me with the same mischievous look in her eyes. I picked some of the plant, and we took off for home, only this time we took our time. When we got back I slid to a stop and turned to Chieann. We looked at each other for a moment, before she jumped and fell to the ground, we played for about thirty minutes before I realized that the team was watching.
I stopped and let all of my restrictions fall, I looked at my hands, they were clawed, I touched my tounge to my teeth, they were sharper, fangs, I could see much better, then I looked at my feet. I still had my shoes on, I bent down and untied my shoe laces, then slid my feet out of them. It felt so good to feel the cool moist earth under my feet again, then I remembered the catnip. I looked over my shoulder, then back at Chieann, "This is going to be fun." I whispered. I walked back to them, and when I stopped I restricted myself and felt my wild, free nature push itself back into it's cage and looked at them with a blank look.
