I woke hours before dawn. Today was the day I would activate my plan. I ran into the forest to find the original catnip plant and when I did I rolled in it. After about five minutes I stopped rolling in the patch of catnip. I sniffed my fur, a strong sent of catnip wafted off of my fur.
The funny thing about me was when I did something to my body in one form it effected all of my forms. I shook my fur and took the form of a hawk. I flew to a low tree branch and cleaned my feathers. I would look better, smell better and also I didn't need to take a shower when I groomed myself. I loved my powers, and the words my mother had began to teach me helped me control it quite well.
I noticed the sun beginning to rise and flew back to the cabin. I still smelled heavily of catnip, so I took the form of a wolf and went hunting. I caught the sent of a small herd of dear within seconds. I was upwind of the herd so hunting would be easy and plentiful. I quietly walked to the edge of the cliff that looked down on them and spotted a large buck.
That buck would feed me well, and I did like the color of his pelt, and the size of his antlers. I watched as the buck laid down, he probably had a leg injury that must had been recent. I waited for ten minutes then I tightened my muscles and forced myself off the cliff at the buck. The feeling of the wind rushing through my fur felt amazing. I landed on his back and gave the final blow before he could even know what happened.
The feel of his fur and skin tearing in my mouth felt very familiar and instinctual. I released the dead dear shifted into a small dragon; if a dragon the size of a British bus is small; wrapped my claws around it and flew back to the cabin. The team still wasn't up and the sun had almost fully risen. I used my razor sharp dragon's claws to skin it and sever the horns from it's head. It was six point and must have been the leader of the herd.
I laid the antlers and the skin in the bushes where no one would be able to find them. I then took the form of a wolf and began to eat what I could of my fresh kill. I had my back to cabin so the team; if they ever came out; would not see me ripping the flesh of the dear. I heard the door creak and lifted my head, licking the access blood and skin from my jaw. There was still a lot left on it, I wouldn't be able to finish it off, so I called Chieann, she must have been hungry still.
It took her a moment to arrive, but when she did I said "Chieann, you can finish off whats left of my kill, I won't finish it." She chuckled and padded over to it, sniffed it, then began to eat it. I yawned and stretched turning human in the process. I turned to see the team watching us with shock. Most of them only had pants on, to me they looked like idiots. I cocked my head and Wade laughed at me.
I smiled, turned walked to the bushes I hid the antlers and the pelt and disappeared behind them and began to work and treat the pelt. I really didn't care about what the team thought of me at the moment, I was going to stay outside until they got rid of all of the alcohol. I hated that stuff with a passion and didn't care if they fought with me on it, I would win every time anyways. It smelled bad and tasted even worse. One question had bubbled to the front of my mind "How did mom even fall for that guy?"
I didn't have an answer for it, I didn't need one, I just needed to know that at least I had some family here. I had learned a short cut on how to treat animal pelts from my mom's brother, and I still remembered it to this day. It only took me all day to treat it instead of a month, so when that was done I turned it into a jacket. I smoothed the inside of the skin down using clean rocks and some of my forms until it was soft and wouldn't irritate my skin. I cut the pelt to just the right size for me, and used the excess pelt to sew it.
I even used it to make collar and sleeve cuffs. It was a nice jacket when it was finished. I put it on to try it out and found myself satisfied. When I stepped out of the bushes I saw the most hilarious scene ever. Victor was laying on his back in the green patch by the cabin. I burst out laughing at the sight of it and wiped tears of mirth from my eyes.
Logan opened the door at that moment, and I fell to one knee laughing, my face bright red and stomach hurting from the laughter. He looked between me and Victor then gave me a questioning look. I wasn't able to stop laughing to answer him so I continued to laugh even harder because of his face; it was priceless. The rest of the team walked outside and saw Victor. "Victor?" Jessica asked shocked.
I was finally able to calm down enough to walk closer to them. Victor finally stood and brushed himself off, but he stared at me. A wind wafted my sent in the direction of Jessica and she took a deep breath of it. Victor and Jessica stared at me, and I stepped back expecting them to attack. The team watched with interest and Jessica asked "Is there catnip close by?"
I shrugged and walked away innocently. As expected Victor lunged at me, I shifted all of my wait to my right and spun. I felt and herd his claw split the air next to my ear and smiled. "How did you avoid that?" Wade asked me. I looked at him and said "One can only be swift when they move like the snow and wind."
Everyone looked at me like I had gone mad and I closed my eyes and shook my head. I dropped to the ground as Victor launched at me again. I rolled to my feet and ran at him, shifting into a large saber tooth tiger only two inches away from him. I slowly grew in size until I was looking down at him. I roared a warning and watched the anger flare in his eyes.
Seeing as he wasn't intimidated by the sudden change I shifted back to human and said "What in the wind's name are you doing idiot?" "You reek girl." He replied. I felt a sudden shill in the air and the night went darker. I looked up and saw storm clouds, I waited and felt something cold touch my cheek.
Snow, it was snowing; this was perfect, now the smell of catnip would increase when the snow melted away, it would even help in the morning. I smiled at him and he looked back at me not understanding. "The snow, I have always loved snow." I replied, sliding my new jacket of my shoulders. I then realized that I never changed and chuckled. "I am going for a flight and enjoying the snow, see you all later." I stated before any one could say anything.
I shifted into a black angel and pushed off into the air. I felt my powerful wings beat the air and catch the wind, pulling me closer to the clouds. I looked down at the confused looks of the team, then looked strait up into the clouds. I broke through the first layer of the clouds and saw white everywhere. I stayed suspended in the cloud, with my wings beating slowly.
I flew out the top of the cloud and found the moon glowing brightly and illuminating the cloud tops below me. I looked at the moon then looked back at my wings. The moon light turned my winds a shining color of obsidian. I smiled and watched the moon light glisten from my massive black wings. I flew back into the clouds and below them.
The very second I dropped below the cloud I felt the temperature change and felt the snow on my skin. I smiled at the feeling of the cold flakes, and twirled in the air. I closed my eyes and kept flying through just below the base of the clouds. I only stopped when I felt the snow lessen then shortly after stop. I opened my eyes and saw green pine trees, amber fields, and caught the sent of the familiar smell of Yellow Stone National Park.
I new there were patches of catnip in the forests of Yellow Stone and I set myself down on the ground to search for one of them. I walked through the forest then stopped when I heard something crack under my feet. I stepped back and bent down examining what I stepped on. I stepped on a piece of glass, I must be close to the wreckage of my old home. I looked around my self and sucked in a breath, realization dawning in my mind.
