When You Wake

2 Sides.

Leyla was sitting in her car.
Thinking about her life, different career options she might have.
She looked at the time and thought she was late. She then realized it was only 7:00 AM.
So she put the car in drive and followed the GPS.
It wasn't long before she arrived at her destination.
She parked her car and leaned up against the wall next to the door.
She heard a voice in front of her.

Tom: Fancy seeing you here.

Rachel: Oh please. I'm the one with the card.

Tom: Fair enough.

Tom motioned for Rachel to enter the door before him.

Rachel: How very chivalrous of you.

Tom: I sense large amounts of sarcasm but regardless of that, thank you for acknowledging my chivalry.

Rachel and Tom entered the diner and sat at a couple of bar stools.
Rachel on the right, Tom on the left.

Tom: No menus?

Rachel looked around the room and there were none to be found.

Rachel: I guess not?

???: Hello kids. Take hold of my hand.

The lady behind the counter extended one hand to each of them palm upwards facing.

They both placed one of their hands in one of hers.

The lady retracted her hands and walked away.

Tom: Do you know anything about this symbol?

Rachel heard Tom ask her.

Rachel: Is it Celtic?

Bon appétit.

Their food appeared in front of them.

Tom: Toast?

Rachel: This is an Apple...?

Tom and Rachel both looked at eachother confused.
Simultaneously they spoke: Come and find me.

Leyla: When you wake.

Leyla sat in her bed and stared at her wall confused and exhausted.

She wasn't too concerned with trying to understand what she woke up from... But she hated the warmth she felt with this man in her dream because she wasn't feeling it now. Why couldn't she have that warmth all the time?

The clock said 4:50 AM.

Leyla: Why am I up so early. 'When you wake' my foot. I'm awake right now and I have no way to find you! Give me a clue at least!

Leyla got out of her bed and got ready for work that Tuesday morning.

Later At Work.

Penny: So do you think if you ever meet that guy that you would date him? I mean, I would. He's pretty cute and I think he has like a lot of money so I coul-

Leyla: Really Penny? Money? If that's all he is then I would never be caught dead dating that guy.

Penny: Well no it's not that I think he's only money I'm just saying it would be nice and I feel like I would be well taken care of and I could even quit my job-

Leyla: Penny what! Are you trying to be a sugar baby?

Penny: No! I mean? No of course not! It would just be nice.

Leyla: You just wanna leave me alone with her.

Penny: No! No I don't! I wouldn't do that to you! She's crazy.

Katy: Who's crazy?

Penny: Ka- Caydence! My neighbor. She just moved in next door and she's super weird, just yesterday she was spraying her fence wi-

Katy: Penny, enough. Get back to work.
Leyla, your break's over.

Leyla's break was far from over but she had no desire to argue with her boss about it and just left the conversation where it was and went back on to work.

Just like most Tuesdays it went by slow.

9:00 PM

Leyla read her watch and looked around for her relief. No one to be seen yet.

10:07 PM

???: So sorry I'm late! Get out of here before she asks you to do something else... You know she will.

Leyla: I know. I wish you had come sooner Derrick. Your daughter again?

Derrick: Yeah... Now clock out, she's not around right now.

Leyla clocked out and went home.

She walked up the stairs to her apartment and went inside.

On her phone there was a missed call.
It was from Katy, 9 minutes ago.

Leyla: I'm not calling her back. She didn't even leave a voicemail.

Leyla looked in her fridge for something to eat and couldn't decide on anything, she settled for an apple from the table.

Leyla: He hasn't texted back.

Leyla texted her former manager informing him how much everyone misses him.

Leyla: I wonder why they needed to ask me questions about him... I hope he's okay.

She wanted the truth but she knew she would probably never get it.

Leyla pulled open her mom's laptop and started surfing the web for new job options. She knew she had to get out of there and away from Katy. At this point she felt like she was only there for Penny.

*BZZT*

The buzz of her phone beside her caught her attention.
A text from Penny.

"Don't be Mad. But I have an interview tomorrow. Call me?" 11:17 PM.
