Life In Another Dimension

When it All Happened

     Nz woke up early. It was his 18th birthday, but he didn't really care. He was in his own cozy apartment, and he was pretty tired. 10 more minutes would be enough for him.

     "Okay, Carlton. Activate the switch." Said the head scientist. He was eager to find out if his inter-dimensional portal would actually work. He did all the calculations correctly, so there was no doubt this thing would work. Carlton quickly typed up some coordinates and pulled a switch. Nothing happened for a moment. "Jesus, Carlton did you type the coordinates correctly?"

     Nz woke up to a strange feeling. It was as if he was being pulled. He looked up and saw what looked like a portal. Was he thinking correctly? He got up and nervously went closer to it. Inside looked exactly like his apartment, so he began to feel safer.

     He worked up the courage to walk into it. He slowly took a step inside, then another. Soon, he was fully in the place. The portal behind him closed quickly, leaving him in another place.

     "Ahhh! Who the heck are you!? What are you doing in my apartment!?" A female voice shouted. Nz looked at the woman and saw she looked a lot like him.

     "Who are you!?" Nz asked. The woman slapped Nz across the face.

     "I'm Alexandra! Now get the frick out of my apartment!" She shouted back. She began to notice that Nz looked a lot like her.

     "Alexandra? Oh my gosh..." Nz murmured. Alexandra stared at him, questioning who this male doppelganger is.

     "Are you going to leave?" She asked. Nz looked at Alexandra.

     "And where would I go?" Nz said. Alexandra stood there for a moment. Was she crazy? Was she really going to let this stranger stay in her apartment?

     "Erm, you can stay here while I settle things." She finally said. Nz got up, revealing to be a bit taller than Alexandra.

     "The name is Netherland by the way." Nz said. Alexandra said something under her breath, but he couldn't hear her.

     "Why do you look like me?" She asked. Nz shrugged.

     "I was wondering the same thing." He replied. Nz looked around, everything looked like his apartment, only difference being that everything had a girlish touch to them.

     "I'm not going to ask anymore questions... okay maybe one more. How did you get in my apartment?" Alexandra asked. Nz sighed.

     "Well, it sounds idiotic, but I came through this portal thing..." Nz said awkwardly. Alexandra just looked at him.

     "So you are from another dimension? Ugh, I just really said that..." She said. "You know what, just forget about it."

     "Wait wait wait, so you are me?" Nz asked quickly. Alexandra scratched her head.

     "I mean, my mom was going to name me Netherland if I was a guy. So I bet your mom would've named you Alexandra." She replied. Nz just sat there, his mind being blown.

     "So we are basically the same person. Same personality, same interests, and stuff like that. Wait so that'd mean we are both..."

     "Narcissistic. I know." Alexandra said, finishing Nz's sentence.

     "And sexual..." Nz said. They both shuddered at what could happen if they got too close, but they both knew they wanted it.

     "Well, you can call me Alex." Said Alexandra, trying to continue the conversation. Nz smiled.

     "Call me Nz" he replied. Alex nodded going back to her room. Nz sat down on the couch, panicking about the whole experience.

     "So you a virgin?" Alex asked out of nowhere. Nz jumped a little, he didn't hear her come back.

     "Uhh yeah. You?" Nz said.

     "Yep. Didn't have many boyfriends. That could change with our narcissistic actions or something." She said.

     "Wouldn't that be incest?" Nz asked.

     "No, it would be a weird form of narcissism I guess." She said back. Nz sighed. He got up and looked outside, finding out that the world looks exactly the same.

     "So what school do you go to?" He asked. Alex looked up at him.

     "Bellevue West. Why?" She said.

     "I was just wondering. There might be a chance everyone I knew will be the opposite gender here." Nz explained. "For example, I had a friend named Terry in my world. He could be a she here, and be named Terrissa or something."

     "Terrissa is in my English class. You could visit my high school on Monday or something." Alex asked. Nz smiled and nodded. This was going to be something.

     "So where am I going to sleep?" Nz asked. It was 11:54 pm, so he was getting tired. Alex looked around her house, trying to find something comfortable for Nz to sleep on.

     "How about the couch? I'd say its pretty comfortable." Alex said as she sat on the couch. Nz looked at her with a "really" look. "Okay fine, I know it isn't the best couch. The only other place you can sleep in is my room."

     "You know what, the couch seems suddenly very comfortable. Goodnight." Nz said, a slight blush appearing on his face. Alex giggled as she went to her room.

     Nz kept shifting around in the couch. It was uncomfortable, very hot, and sorta itchy. Just like his couch at home. As he was about to doze off, he felt a vibration in his shorts. He digged in his pockets and took out his phone.

     "Woah, I forgot about you. Thanks past me for being lazy." He whispered. It was on low charge, which what was caused the notification to appear. He put it down and finally fell asleep.

     "Wake up sleepy head!" Alex said, waking up Nz. "Geez, you've been asleep for like 30 minutes now."

     "Well sorry. I need my beauty sleep." Nz said. Alex saw what was in Nz's pocket. It looked like a phone. She slowly grabbed it, surprised Nz didn't notice. "Put it back."

     "What? Oh, right." Alex set the phone down. "It's going to die, want me to charge it?"

     "Yeah, actually. Thanks." Nz said. Alex got up and connected her charger with his phone. It was charging, which was pretty surprising for Alex.

     "So Alex, what are we going to do today?" Nz asked. Alex got up and looked at Nz.

     "Maybe we could get to know each other better." She said.

     "But we're the same person." Nz said.

     "Yeah, but I'm a girl. You didn't go through some things I did. Like breast development or periods."

     "Didn't want to know that but fine."

     Nz got up from the couch and made himself breakfast. He grabbed the cereal and looked at it. His jaw dropped at what he saw.

     "Cap'n Crunch is a girl here!?" He asked. Alex nodded confusingly, until she remembered about him being from a different place.

     The day went through pretty normally, the only exception being every single time Nz looked at genderbent fictional characters, like Mario being Maria and Bowser being Bowsette. It was really weirding him out. This made Alex laugh a lot, she thought it was really cute how surprised he was about everything.
