It took some time repairing the blown apart house, but thanks to Alastor, my tiny one bed one bath house blossomed into a beautiful rustic two bed one and a half bath ranch house. At the same time, fresh gravel covered the blood in the drive way. It was like a collective breath had been sighed, the calm after the storm.
Our first night in the new home, we sat at a new kitchen table, eating our dinner. The kitchen was bigger than my last one, with newer appliances and new furniture.
"Now that Bennington is gone," I said, laying my fork down on my now empty plate, "When will you go back to the city?" I tried to sound as nonchalant as possible. In reality, I was hoping he would stay.
Peering at me with that red of gaze of his. Alastor replied, "About that..."
"Please stay," I blurted out, "I mean...stay here with me." We looked at each other for a long moment, neither one of us saying anything.
Finally, he broke the silence, grinning that manic Cheshire grin, "I was hoping you would ask that. I would love to stay here with you, my dear." My own grin mirrored his at his answer. Then getting up, he walked around the table, coming to my side.
"(Y/N), I am not a good man," Alastor said softly, his fingers trailing through my hair, "But I want to be one for you." I could listen to the crudest jokes and bawdiest saloon songs without flinching, but his words made a blush creep into my cheeks.
Leaning down, Alastor kissed me soft and slow, only breaking the kiss to murmur against my lips, "I love you, (Y/N)."
Melting under his touch, I murmured back, "I love you too, Alastor."
