"John! Pick up the bloody telephone! I can't sleep with this ruckus! It's 4 in the morning who could be calling?"

"Ok ok." John rolled over in the bed and picked up the phone on the night stand.
"Hello?"

Paul also rolled over and tried to listen to the conversation over John's shoulder.

"What are they saying? I can't hear."

"I'm trying to listen give me a second." John said back covering the receiver with his hand.

Uncovering it, "Yes sir. No, no you didn't wake me up, I can talk."

With John's blatant lie, Paul rolled his eyes and collapsed back on the pillow listening from there.

"A contract!? Well that's great sir! I'll have to talk to the rest of the lads. What was your name again? Epstein? Excellent, I'll be sure to call you back. Thanks so much." John placed the phone back on the holder.

"Contract!? Are you bluffing or something!?" Paul exclaimed.

"No, this man named Brian Epstein saw us at the Cavern Club and wants to sign us to a contract. Apparently he likes our look."

"Our look!? The hell does that mean?"

"I don't know, our look, like charm and appearance."

"And he wants to sign us?!"

"Yes, I just said that."

"Ok, forgive me. This stuff just doesn't happen to us everyday."

"Are you happy about it?"

"Of course! I mean, it's a little nerve-wrecking."

"That's the excitement talking. I'll call the boys over and let's see what they think."

The news was well received. Ringo and George were pleased and more delighted than nervous.
"How long would they sign us for?" Ringo inquired.

"They said on the phone it'd be a five-year contract."

"That's a long time. I still think we should take it though. Who knows when something like this might come again."

It's true. Brian Epstein had given them an offer they couldn't refuse. After all, they had already had a falling out with their previous manager, so it couldn't have come at a better time. Meeting Brian, the boys thought they knew all about negotiation in the industry.
"So, when you sign you agree that i get 25% of the cut." Brian instructed calmly.

John confidently replied, "10%"

Brian stood his ground. "25%"
"12%"

"25"

"20"

"25"

"Done." John surrendered nodding at the man as Paul placed his hand on John's shoulder.
"You tried."

"You know what this means boys?" Brian leaned over the table. "An album."
