The Doctor's POV

Lauren's home town was beautiful, the lushness of it all. The sinkhole she took us to was amazing, but there was more to see than just the sinkhole. We spent the day walking around the surprisingly large town, visiting the other two sinkholes, seeing the massive craters that made up the lapis blue lake, and visiting the public library. It wasn't as diverse as the TARDIS library, but it was still rather big.
I was browsing through the history books, pointing out lots of incorrect pieces of so-called information, getting a lot of stares, when Lauren walked over to me.
"You know, if you stopped telling these people that everything in their history books is wrong, they might stop staring," she offered. I looked up to see her sapphire blue eyes looking straight into my chocolate brown ones, making my hearts beat off-time. "Doctor, I think we should leave now. Indi is waiting outside with Jack."
I closed the book in my hands, put it back, then walked outside with Lauren by my side. I felt her fingers lock with mine as we strolled over to the others. My hearts fluttered at the contact, which I knew was a bad sign, and I walked a bit quicker, wanting to get back to the TARDIS as soon as possible to gather my thoughts.

I rushed down the corridors to my room, the place that hadn't been used for a few years for sleeping. I sat down on the bed, the TARDIS blue covers creasing under my weight. Why was Lauren the only other? I shouldn't be thinking like that. I know she knows I love her, that was evident when I kissed her but did I make the right choice in doing that? She was the first one after Rose for me to like as more than a friend, but what would happen if it went any further? What would happen if... no. I will not think like that.
Lauren walked into my room just then, sitting down next to me. The next thing I knew, our lips were pushed together. She pulled back, embarrassed at her actions. I pounced, closing the distance between us, pulling her into a passionate kiss. She wound her arms around my neck, pushing my head towards hers. My arms found her waist and wrapped tightly around her, careful of her wings. The moment felt like it lasted forever, I brushed my tongue along her bottom lip, asking for entrance. She opened her mouth under mine, letting the kiss deepen. She put her wings around me, gently pulling me closer, but then she pulled away.
"I know you're having doubts, Doctor, but why would you be doubtful of this?" I couldn't find the words, so my mouth hung open while my brow furrowed.
"I was only... um... it was only questioning... um..."
"Doctor. You know this has to be this way, you can see it in the time stream. But I know what's going to happen to you, your future companions, a few of your adventures, how you regenerate. It all seems lost, but you come through, and you may be visiting a few old friends." She sounded so truthful it was difficult not to believe her, not that I wanted to. I wanted to believe every word, I knew she was right about the time streams, but, did I regenerate? What happens if I don't see my friends? I sighed, seeing no way out of what was happening between us, and out of my fixed future.

We'd snogged and talked for a long time before she'd started to become tired. We lay down on the bed together, sheets over us as we slowly let sleep take over.

Lauren's POV

A low groan woke me. The Doctor was still next to me, asleep. The rise and fall of his chest and the rhythm of his hearts were extremely comforting.
I was drifting back into sleep when the Doctor woke up. He sat up, jolting me awake.
"What did you do that for?" I yelled at him. He just rotated his head to look in all directions.
"I heard something," he replied, his voice barely a whisper. I listened carefully, trying to figure out what had awoken him, but could hear only the buzz of his mind at the back of mine, and my heartbeats.
He leapt off the bed and ran down the corridor, so I flew after him, the TARDIS making enough room for me to fly.
As we reached the end of the corridor, a black, shadowy figure stood next to the console.
"Ah, Doctor. I was wondering when you'd come." The figure's voice was familiar, but I couldn't quite pick it.
"Master." The Doctor had worked it out, and my eyes widened. In less than a second, the Master was on the Doctor. He was shouting and punched his fellow Time Lord, rendering him unconscious.
The Master looked up at me.
"Oh, you must be the other presence I can feel. Why not you as well?" And with that, he knocked me out cold.

I woke up, to see my arms and legs shackled to a horizontal table. My wings were splayed and I could tell I wasn't in the TARDIS anymore. The Master waltzed into my vision, with a camera.
"What's that for?" I growled at him.
"Oh, just a little camera so your precious Theta can see what I do to you."
"Koschei stop!" I shouted, thinking of the many things he could do.
"No," he growled, low and menacing. He placed the camera on a bench I hadn't noticed and grabbed a whip-like device. I closed my eyes, ready for the pain as it came slashing across the skin of my arms and legs.
"Doctor!" I yelled. Hopefully, he could help.
"The Doctor won't come to your rescue this time, Scriptor. He is shackled to a wall, in the next room over."
Doctor, this is the time to use it!
I saw Koshei collapse onto the floor, screaming in pain, clutching his head. I thrashed my wings, breaking the shackles on my wrists. I manually broke the ones around my ankles and ran to the door. I touched it and was zapped, making me fall unconscious, again.
