Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Words
Americans have the right to speak, they say
Yet telling the truth can mean jail
And schools encourage silence
While children are posting bail
We learn about our promise of liberty
But prejudice holds us back
Murderers and robbers roam the streets
While we argue o'er white and black
All in this world deserve life, we uphold
Still, millions are dying today
Bullets and famine will linger
And human lives will pay
I have the right to happiness
Of being the person I choose
But everyone tries, wherever I go
To make me conform to their views
