Theatre
Staring out the window frame
Chipped blue paint and rust
Light forms a rainbow
Over my bare arms
Empty seats stare back
An absent judging audience
Soon they will come
To see the show
Backstage we are prepared
Makeup fresh and lines rehearsed
Nervous anticipation
As the crowd files in
Flushed faces shine
Scenes blur by until
Curtain call together
Standing arm to arm
Now the set comes down
Embraces, laughter, crying
Flowers line the dressing rooms
As we give fond farewells
And though this cast disperses
Our giddy excitement and
Grand camaraderie will
Live forever in the theatre
